[mythtv-users] nuvexport/avidemux2 : ERROR: opening A/V streams

I am running nuvexport's mpeg2-mpeg2 on the .nuv files generated by

Possibly - I've spent quite some time getting mpeg2cut to work on my
system.

which: no Xvfb in
(/usr/kerberos/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin

Indexing the file with avidemux2
Cutting out commercials with avidemux2

When I hit Ctrl+C it said something like finsihed encoding
and it took
11 hrs. I see a message about no Xvfb at the begining. Does this have
anything to do with the never ending cutting process?

avidemux2 is an X11 program that tries to output status/progress
information even when run in batch mode. So, you need some kind of X
server for avi2demux to output to.
best choice is Xvfb - a virtual framebuffer X server; this lets
avidemux2 work without actually opening any windows. You don't have it,
so fallback to plan b:
avi2demux just uses your defined DISPLAY environment variable and opens
an X window on your display. should work OK if X is setup correctly and
other X stuff works.

Also, is the output of nuvexport on cutting the mpeg-2 mpeg-4
or still mpeg-2?

Output is mpeg-2; processing should be fairly fast since no reencoding
is needed for most of the file.
What type of file is the original mpeg stream? post the output of
	tcprobe -i
/video/recordings/1037_20050305195900_20050305231000.nuv
if the output shows
[tcprobe] MPEG packetized elementary stream (PES)
as file type, avidemux2 can't handle the format and so the whole process
fails.
Your files are from a DVB source, right?
two possible workarounds: when using mythtv 0.16, you should try to
set the record TS option in setup to record the DVB transport stream
directly instead of converting to a PES stream. For mythtv 0.16 this
isn't supported (doesn't work); also it would only help you for new
files.

For your existing files, you'd have to convert your PES format files to
PS format using (for example) replex or lvemux before running nuvexport.
Bye, Martin

Re: [mythtv-users] Commercial cutting DVD burning

2005-03-07 Thread Praveen Shenoy
Thanks to everybody for the replies. David, thx for the steps. A few
question though. I installed avidemux as you suggested and opned one of
my 30 minute clips. Maybe I missed something or didn't do it right. Here
is what I came across
I also read some docs about cutting. The only way I could do was jump to
the next black frame or the keyframe and then having marked the point a
mark point b and cut it. But clicking on find next black frame, it kind
of was going thru the video at the same pace as it would play, maybe a
little faster but definitely did not finish in 5 mins. So, I am thinking
I am missing something. Are you using the cutlist when you start
avidemux? Can you give me some more info on cutting the clips once I
open it in avidemux?

Thx a lot
Praveen

It's a doddle to do if you have a PVR350
I have about 60+ DVDs of Farscape, Stargate, Buffy, Films etc etc
All have proper DVD menus, no commercials, proper printed covers
All done 100% in linux
Mostly by my non-linuxy wife (who now enjoys linux and gimp)
Basically:
* record using DVD profile on PVRx50
* move the nuv file to your editing space
* use avidemux (2.36, not 2.38) to index and cut out commercials (5 mins)
* optionally use avidemux to save screenshots (press 'j') (1 min - 20
mins depending on fussiness)
* save as mpeg (A+V) into show.VOB (5 mins)
* use qdvdauthor to create menu (5 mins)
* save as VIDEO_TS (10 mins)
* burn to DVD (15 mins)
* optionally use gimp to create cover (hours and hours if you get
fancy!!)

The answer to this is, you didn't find it in the archives because it
doesn't exist. The copy to Windows is about the best answer I'v run
across, and I agree too much work so I haven't done it. The next
answer you'll get is the devs don't burn shows so they won't code it
because they don't want it. You'll also get and this one rightly so If
it is too much trouble for you to copy to a windows box and burn then
it is way too much trouble for someone else to code this for you.
I'm just repeating most of the things you'll hear based on old posts.
I'd like this to be easy, but it seems the editing is not an easy task
to keep sound in sync. The last few days have had a few good step by
steps, but they are still pretty drawn out. I'm waiting for a while to
get a DL burner until I have time to work on this particular problem
myself or someone else comes up with a good answer.
Sorry, but I think you are out of luck,

Re: [mythtv-users] Anyone have any luck with MythTiVo and PVR350?

2005-03-07 Thread Praveen Shenoy

I have the 350 and have ot working to my satisfaction using Jarod's
excellent guide. But I don't use the mplayer. I use the TV Out on the
350 and I haven't had any problrems with the pic so far. I like this so
much that, I hardly watch live tv anymore!. I either watch the recorded
shows or start watching the show after it has started.

[mythtv-users] How to change the cutlist?

2005-03-07 Thread Praveen Shenoy
After reading some posts about incorrect cut points, I wanted to make
sure the cutpoint were right. Hit the M and the Z key to generate the
cutlist while palying back the recording. I could see some blocks at
the bottom of the screen representing what I assume is the cutlist. But
how do I move from one cutpoint to another to see the commercials/actual
video to verify the cutpoint and if its not right how do I fix it? I
guess what I looking for are the keystroles that will help me do this.

[mythtv-users] Remote mappings

2005-02-28 Thread Praveen Shenoy
I just setup my mythtv with PVR-350 using the how-to on wilsonet.com.
Works great. Great how-to. Didn't expect it to go smoothly:-). I am
really impressed with the way its working. I have the new gray hauppauge
remote. I would like to customize it myself though I am using the
lircrc from the how-to. Especially I would like the program-guide to
come on when I click the guide button. It does not work right now. After
reading thru the archives looking for info on howto map the keys to
actions in mythv, I did not find any. Is there any doc on what are the
allowed actions for mythtv that I can use in the lircrc?

[mythtv-users] rhgb on pvr-350 out

2005-02-28 Thread Praveen Shenoy
When I steps on Jarod's howto, I could get my X desktop on tv after the
xorg.conf change. But, the new ramdisk image I created did not work. It
had problems starting X. So, I had to go back to the old image I had. I
see that Jarod has posted a patch on 2/21 for loading drivers at boot
time. Should I be using this in conjunction with the ramdisk creation in
the how-to?
