Reading the documentation I understand I have to open the TCP port 3306 for the mysql and TCP ports 6543 and 6544. [mythtv-users] Wrong picture during liveTV
It took me a long time to figure out where the problem was. ref: mobo asus kv8 deluxe with 1.5 GB amd 64 3200# ati radeon 9600 pro 3 sata 10K rpm SuSE 9.3 ivtv-0.3.6w mythtv-0.18.1 Problem: LiveTV very dark, recording very dark. Observations: LiveTV is very dark. Pressing (affects recording) a window comes with the first choice: brightness, the value 50% is what I had; without any changes suddenly the picture is ok. If I change values (< >)the brightness change as suppose to. This is the abnormal behavior of this problem: - If I change channels, they are dark as soon as I press G are ok. - This changes are not retained. If I go back to the channel that was ok is dark again, G makes it normal - Also if I continue going though the loop pressing G as soon as color or hue shows the picture becomes dark again. - If I select a channel and is dark and press G and comes with the preselected value of 50% for example and then I change it to 90% for example (very light) and I close mythtv and watch mplayer (mplayer /dev/video0), it is very light so the value is pass OK the ivtv module. If I open again mythtv and watch liveTV is dark as soon as I press G is very light (90%) as is supposed to be. So it seems 'activate' the values stored. - Now if I play with the buffer in liveTV, the buffer will have whatever was in liveTV and you can see there the effect of pressing 6.2 Recording is very dark and I do not have any way to change it. works as supposes to but can not compensate for the dark recording. Method: trying to resolve it I removed xv, I change values in xv with xattr and I change anything I could think of with no effect. Because mplayer has always been working well I though the problem must be with mythtv. I also did many many uninstall and install of both ivtv and mythtv all with no effect. Solution: I remove ivtv and install an ivtv-0.2.0-rc3k and suddenly everything is OK. I do not know when this problem has been introduced but the change was with ivtv and not with mythtv. Hope it saves many days of work to some of you. -=terry(Denver)=- ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users

[mythtv-users] Recording: how to adjust color?
I posted a couple of message and I got not answers :-( . I just compiled from source everything except mysql (only I dropped mythconverg)and the problem persist. I am using ivtv-0.3.6.w. I get no error during compilation and except for this problem the rest is ok. The recording is very dark as well as .nuv during live tv. If I press during live TV suddenly the picture is ok. Recording picture is always dark. Where can I change the recording color? Why whenever I start mythtv the color is reset to dark? Here is the weird behavior: If I look at liveTV the is very dark: (1) If I press G (the window comes preset to 50% for example)suddenly without any adjustments the color is perfect. For some reason mythtv can not read the preset 50% until G is press?. If I exit mythtv and then I use the mplayer the picture is perfect. (2) If I donot press G the picture is dark. If I exit and then use the mplayer the picture is dark In summary the ivtv module seems to work as it should. Mythtv can not read the color setup until the G is press. Why? Could it be problems with permission in mysql? I have spend time looking at the users lists, reinstalling and learning mysql but I can not figure out where the problem is. Re: [mythtv-users] IVTV issues (picture with artifacts, strange colors)
Teruel, I have not tried the G button. What function is associated that button? Mats, (1) I have ignored the ivtv as cause of my problems because if I use mplayer I do not have any problem. The image is perfect in any channel. (2) The G button works during "watching tv" and according to keys.txt file "rotates between the various Picture Adjustments (Color, Hue etc) for recording. These values affect the look of the resulting .nuv file, and are independent of the playback picture settings. When picture adjustment is on screen use Left and Rigth arrows to adjust" In my case when you watch tv the picture is all distored colors, brigthness etc. If you press G the online adjustment bar and text shows and WITHOUT doing anything else seems to do a reset and suddenly everything is perfect. When I move into the buffer back and forth it can record ok (the same segment you can view ok). In summary I wonder what effect G has besides what is described in the key.txt. BTW the picture adjustment features of the G work well. Seems that I am so close to have the system running but I have tried everything and do many searches in the users lists without luck. I may post in the development list to get some direction of what to do. Best regards, ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users

Re: [mythtv-users] Re: No sound after apt-get upgrade
sure its a config that got screwed up somewhere, but I don't know where to look. Recordings and live tv have the same problem, even recordings that were made previously that i've seen with sound!!! Andy, Sound depends on the hardware. If you are using PVR-25/350 the most likely cause is that msp3400 was replaced. Often happens with online installation of a new kernel. In both the ivtv doc and mythtv doc there is referrence to this problem. [mythtv-users] mythfilldatabase howto?
I'm new to linux. My first project as an introduction to linux has been MythTV. Im am not familiar with mysql. I am reading from the site as well as man and a book I got (mysql /Duboi). - Sytem: SuSE 9.2 running amd64. Wintv-pvr 350 ivtv 0.3.2.a mythtv 0.16 -- Present status: ivtv device driver working very well both sound and video mythv working very well. both watch tv and recording. The three steps i did to install and run mythtv: (1) run the ./setup for mythtv . When setup finishes it ask to run mythfilldatabase to populate the channel. I have to IGNORE this instruction (2) run backend (3) run front end Setup the mythfilldatabase inside mythtv and waint until the following day to populate the channels with information. Then everything OK --- Here my questions. (1) if I run mythfilldatabase $ mythfilldatabase It runs, it connects to DataDirect, it seems to get all the information, then loops again and again and finally stop with error that can not access mysql.sock exist and if I change the permission. chown -R mysql /var/lib/mysql then reports a error in program.myi The final result is that I have to reinstall the mc.sql and also mythtv. So my approach is just to IGNORE to run mythfilldatabase except within mythtv as I said before. My questions: running $ mythfilldatabase is this correct? Or I am missing option/parameters? (2) How can you run mythfilldatabase from outside of mythtv? How can I refresh the channels from outside mythtv?. In the mythtv manual there is a session in how to use the cron method. Is this the ONLY other way to do it?. In summary my impression is that running $ mythfilldatabase without parameters is not correct (BTW --help did not help me) That there are only 2 ways to run it one is within mythtv like I am doing it now and the other is with cron. Am I correct? Any ideas, any instructions, any general statments may help me to understand what I am doing with mythfilldatabase/mysql TIA -=terry(Denver)=- ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users

Now I started the setup again and all seems to be ok except that the input screen is blank and there is nothing to select. I know the first time have all the choices: Composities1, 2 etc. I compiled mythtv again with no success. Any tips where I can recreate all the inputs ? Why this screen was ok in my first setup (at the time even I choose composite one and stick on the screen) and now is blank? What do I have to remove to be able to reinstall the backend clean?
