[mythtv-users] Mythfilldatabase Problem
I'm trying to setup Mythtv 0.18 for the first time. I have gone through all the setup instructions, and I'm at the point where I need to run mythfilldatabase. The problem is that I continuously get 401 errors. I searched the lists, but the only solution I've seen is run mythsetup and to clear the credentials and re-enter them. I did that a number of times with no success. I verified that the logon data is correct by runing tv_grab_na_dd and pulling down the xmltv data. I even tried generating a new logon (hey I'm getting desperate here), but the results are always the same. When I run mythfrontend I can see the data direct expiration date. Doesn't that mean that mythfilldatabase was able to logon? Does anyone have a clue what the problem might be? If you need more data, just let me know and I'll provide it. One more thing I've tried using mythfilldatabase 1 -1 tv_grab.xml to load the database manually. After reading the data for a few seconds mythfilldatabase tells me not to use tv_grab_na_dd. Isn't there any way I can load the channel/program information into mythtv that it will use? ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users
Re: [mythtv-users] Mythfilldatabase Problem
I just ran into something like this and here's what ended up working for me. Run mythtv-setup and look to see if there are channels that say unassigned. If there are exit mythtv-setup and run it again this time answering yes to delete my channel settings. You will also need to setup your video sources and input connection again. After this, at least in my case, mythfilldatabase then worked. Also, the 401 error on the first attempt seems to be normal. - Original Message - From: Roger McClurg [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: mythtv-users@mythtv.org Sent: Wednesday, October 12, 2005 10:59 AM Subject: [mythtv-users] Mythfilldatabase Problem I'm trying to setup Mythtv 0.18 for the first time. Re: [mythtv-users] mythfilldatabase problem on new install
Ok, probably a foolish thing...I got what I think was a brilliant idea with some fixable side effects. I had the entire contents of my working mysql database from the .17 mythtv, so I copied the contents of old mythconverg over to the the new mythconverg after stopping mysql and mythbackend. Restarted mysql and mythbackend. I got a message about the database schema needed to be when I restarted mythbackend. It appeared to upgrade ok. Ran mythfilldatabase and all it well. Welcome to my issue, if you look in the dir... there isnt a full mysql installation. I am away from home for a bit and I haven't had time to fix it. I tried some stuff but I couldn't figure it out. Basically you're missing mysql.sock, if you find a solution, please let me know. Sounds like your MySQL is using a non-default location for the socket. How about putting the lines [mysqld] socket=/path/to/mysql.sock [client] socket=/path/to/mysql.sock in the file ~/.my.cnf of the user running mythfilldatabase. You can find the location of the socket by running: mysql -u mythtv -p mythconverg -e status (from a user account that's already configured ;). If you don't have an account that can connect, check your start scripts to see if they specify a --socket option or MYSQL_UNIX_PORT environment variable. If so, put its value in .my.cnf. If not, your MySQL was probably compiled to use a different default location for the socket (using --with-unix-socket-path), so you can either find out what it was or use --socket or MYSQL_UNIX_PORT to set it back to the default default (/tmp/mysql.sock). [mythtv-users] mythfilldatabase problem?
The mythtv system has been working great the past week or so. Mythtv 0.17 from ATRPMS and Jarod's guide on an FC3 system using PVR-350 and a PVR-250. In the mythweb interface under the backend status I noticed the following under Machine information: Disk Usage: * Total Space: 1042,336 MB * Space Used: 382,265 MB * Space Free: 660,071 MB This machine's load average: * 1 Minute: 0.02 * 5 Minutes: 0.02 * 15 Minutes: 0 Last mythfilldatabase run started on 2005-03-28 03:02 and ended on 2005-03-28 03:02. mythfilldatabase ran, but did not insert any new data into the Guide. This can indicate a potential grabber failure. There's guide data until 2005-04-08 22:00 (11 days). DataDirect Status: Your subscription expires on 05/17/05 03:06:14 My question is regarding what appears to be a warning above that mythfilldatabase ran but did not insert any new data into the Guide. You may be experiencing what I, for lack of a better term, refer to as the Sunday Problem. On three of the last four Sunday's, mythfilldatabase was unable to obtain any new data from Zap2It. On two of those three occasions, the data was available by the Monday request time; on one occasion no new data was available until Tuesday. Since the data shows up eventually, I have decided simply not to worry about it. Scot L. Harris wrote: The mythtv system has been working great the past week or so.
