Just a quick question about the above mode lines. I'm here in Canada so
I use the NTSC standard obviously. My mode lines are the following:

The xorg log says its using this as my resolution:
(**) NVIDIA(0): Validated modes for display device TV-0:
(**) NVIDIA(0): Mode "800x600": 40.0 MHz, 37.9 kHz, 60.3 Hz

It says that interlacing is available but I can't find any where where
it says its actually using it. Since I'm using a plain old (re 25 years
old but still has a great picture) tv, I would think that an interlaced
output would show the best picture. How do I confirm that it is in fact
using interlacing?

Subject: [mythtv-users] Nvidia-FX5200 TVOut Xorg Configs

Hi All,

Just bought a Forsa Nvidia fx5200 Graphics card. It comes with an
SVideo Output and a Svideo to Composite cable.

I tried it out (the whole day yesterday) and was not able to get a clean
and "teriffic" looking TV-Out.

I've read multiple email posts on mythtv and searched google as well but
I've not been able to get a clean signal on the TVout. I keep getting
"snow" on the screen. Also, in most cases, when the screen is all black
(Blank), I will see what looks like scanlines running across the screen.
(diagnonally).

Also, the resolution isn't sharp, the fonts looks Blur too. (In console
mode, I can barely read the output. It looks like it's been
'strikethrough')

I read about modelines but I'm guess I still don't understand it. (and
the notion that it can fry my hardware is making me nervous)

Can anyone help? Post your Xorg.conf file?

BTW, I'm using a SVIDEO to COMPOSITE cable. Will this degrade quality?
My TV don't have an SVIDEO Input.

Thanks

The following is my working xorg.conf on FX5200 on ubuntu and in the uk
(PAL-I). Note that tv output is set to composite even though I am using
an Svideo cable - go figure! BTW the config works but it is a bit of a
hack.

Hope it helps.
