RE: [mythtv-users] Fusion DVB-t lite card

2005-10-07 Thread Justin
Hi Greg,

Regretfully my experience with linux is very limited at this stage - i
strayed on the dark side many years ago when CPM was the way to do
things and moved onto dos then windows. I have finally had enough of all
of the problems and have come across to Linux.

i have tried to folllow Chris's instructions - but have not been able to
get far due to limited knowledge at this stage.

I would be happy to follow his example if i knew how to.

Any suggestions would be great.

Regards

Justin

Not really - the only problems I had with my nova-t card
  were that the
autodetect loaded the wrong module (dvb-blackbird instead
  of dvb-cx88
IIRC) and when I edited udev rules, to give mythtv permissions on
/dev/adapter0, I spelled adapter as adaptor (or vice versa) I still
can't remember which is right. That took a ridiculous time
  for me to
   spot.

You have given permissions to the all the devices within adapter0
haven't you? The frontend and such?

What does the output of dmesg give?

   Good Luck.

My Dvico Lite card uses the CX23878A chip.
My Dvico T1 or Plus cards use the CX23881 chip.

So for me, the Lite card requires different kernel drivers than the
 T1/Plus cards.

Ie. Lite DVB Module is bt878-dvb, whereas T1/Plus DVB Module is
 dvb-cx88.

RE: [mythtv-users] Fusion DVB-t lite card

2005-10-07 Thread Matthew Carle
The command to get this card working is:

/sbin/modprobe dvb-bt8xx

This loads the driver for the card. If you have not done this, try to run it
as root. This should make the adapter0 item that mythtv refers to. You can
then try running mythtvsetup again. Once that is working, you will need to
get it to load automatically on startup - but you can load it manually each
time until everything is working.

Matthew.

Make sure you're not running mythbackend at the time. I
   believe that
it can grab the card, so that mythtv-setup can't see it.

Hope this helps.
