Hi Eric, I'm about to install a HD3000 card for OTA use with mythtv 0.17 (fc3 using Jarod's howto). Can you tell me what PS mode is? I'm familiar with a .ts transport stream file, but not sure what you mean by PS mode (am I confusing things here?). It is confusing, I wouldn't worry too much about it though :) Thanks. The simple answer is that it is an option in MythSetup for dvb cards, that lets you chose what is to be saved to disk. PS Mode is for recording only the Program Stream portion of the broadcast. And TS mode is for recording the whole thing. And this is not an option for for non dvb cards, as far as I can tell they only record in PS mode. PS mode is fine if reception is good, but I don't have that luxury so I needed the extra bits that are included in TS Mode. Here is a simple definition for what I had googled to determine what a transport stream essentially is http://www.videohelp.com/glossary?T#Transport%20Stream which is partially composed of http://www.videohelp.com/glossary?P#Program%20Stream which is composed of http://www.videohelp.com/glossary?E#Elementary%20Stream You should be fine following Jarod's howto, he has done a great job with it. I'm running Debian Sarge 2.6.10 but the steps are basically the same. Hope this helped! I'll be testing them shortly myself. I'm also working on a kernel RPM with DVB support built-in. The source for pcHDTV's code for QAM, DVB and so on was uploaded tonight to pchdtv.freedesktop.org. What this helps out with is if you get this cvs code, you don't have to deal withthe various builds from the dvb or video4linux folks. It's basically a merge of the code that works out of the box so to say. There's very little in what it diffs between the two places, but enough that it helps. I'll post cvs checkout commands tomorrow on that webpage for those interested. This is also a great way for those who want to work on the pcHDTV drivers to be able to get their hands dirty. Changes taken from this cvs repository will be send to the video4linux and dvb folks until all the changes we want are into the kernel, and for future improvements to be prepped for the kernel. For the vast majority of people though, I *highly* recommend sticking with the non-DVB way of using a pcHDTV card. There is more functionality with the non-DVB version and it will take some time before all the special pieces of the HDTV code in myth are migrated over to myths DVB structure. My estimate would be 1-2 months to have things working stable to where /I/ would recommend using DVB. -- The cvs repository that I will post will have support for QAM on the standard cx88xx driver, not just by using DVB to get the QAM signals. So another reason you need not to move to DVB quite yet if what you're looking for is QAM support. --Brandon ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users
Re: [mythtv-users] HD3000 FC3 Install guide
Thank you for this link. I am in the process of deciding how to build a mythTV box and I had pretty much settled on a HD3000, FC3 and an nvidia 6600 PCI-E. I'm still working on the other bits. Is a 64-bit AMD worth thinking about? Jack Heneghan ffrf wrote: Thought I'd post a step-by-step install guide I put together to get the HD3000 working with MythTV 0.17. It installs the DVB drivers and works very well (thanks to the V4l commits made in the past week)! Hopefully someone will find the guide useful: http://ffrf.net/pchdvt-fc3-install.html I'd also post this to the pchdtv.com/forum, but it looks like they're having some SQL problems.. -f ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users

I'll be testing them shortly myself. I'm also working on a kernel RPM with DVB support built-in. Haven't tried it yet myself, my Air2PC card just got here end of last week. I've been busy with a bunch of work on the ivtv driver for the PVR-150 and 500, so the Air2PC card has been on hold. It'll probably be the weekend before I have enough time to try it out myself. -- Jarod Wilson [EMAIL PROTECTED] Got a question?
