Re: [mythtv-users] I give up!!! pchdtv 3000 for sale
I would recommend you try one more thing -- using the DVB drivers. I just got this working last night: 0) get rid of any of the pchdtv drivers 1) download and install 2.6.11-rc4 kernel. Make sure you select DVB and the nxt2002 driver. Select Video4linux at the top level but no additional drivers, Is it actually a necessity to build a new kernel? I was under the impression the drivers could be built externally. ATrpms has dvb kernel modules in the testing repo for the latest FC3 kernels, though they're cut off cvs of three or four weeks ago... I suppose they could be built externally, but I had no issues with upgrading the kernel so I just did -- I am using gentoo if that helps.. 5) download the latest ivtv driver -- I used ivtv-0.20-rc3f The PVR-500 only works with the latest 0.3.x ivtv drivers. Yeah, I suppose I knew that. In any case, if you COULD get the ivtv drivers to work independently, they should also work in conjunction with the DVB drivers since there seems to be fewer conflict points than with the pcHDTV drivers. ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users

I wanted to have a setup that had the pchdtv-3000 for over-the-air hdtv and a pvr-500 for cable broadcast but both cards have bleading edge drivers and will not play nice together. If any one is interested, I will sell for the same amount I paid. Please email me privately at [EMAIL PROTECTED] Do you have an extra old PC lying around? Just chuck the PVR-500 into it and use it as a slave backend. That's the beauty of MythTV. If you can't get the cards to play nice, separate them. The slave just needs network access to the file storage on your main backend (doesn't need a big disk itself), doesn't need TV-out, etc. The PVR-500 will do all the work so it doesn't have to be powerful at all. This works for me and not only provided OTA support simultaneousy with IVTV, but also provided QAM support. It is possible that your cable company is sending HDTV in unencrypted QAM, and this driver combination supports this as well. Good luck. ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users
