If I use --show_existing I get stuff listed eg.

actually stick?

Is it because the channels have been changed?

No. When DISH does a free-some-premium-channel-weekend, I add in the
free channels and delete them as soon as the weekend ends and the
recordings work without problems.

If thats the case then it
sounds like a design fault to have such a ridiculous dependancy - after
all I don't care how it was recorded, I just want to watch it!!

Fortunately Myth was developed by people who want to use it, so they did
it right.

Are you using a filter, by any chance? Press M in the Watch

There is a perl script in the contrib folder of the distribution that
will locate your nuv files and insert them into the database if
 needed. It's called myth.rebuilddatabase.pl

Sounds to me like you're connecting to the wrong database server.

You may need to repair your mysql database. When something like this
happens, I usually go into the mythconverg directory
(/var/lib/mysql/mythconverg for me) and run myisamchk -r *.MYI.

In the MYTHCONVERG database, the RECORDED table contains all of the
information (assuming it's still there). Using the combination of
CHANID, STARTTIME and ENDTIME you can work out which file is which.

Wonderful stuff - thats what I wanted to hear!!

As to why the changing of a capture card should cause the whole lot to
disappear is a total mis[t]ery (sic) to me :-))

Ho hum - something else to play with tonight then..
