Penso q vc deveria rever o snmpd.conf e verificar se o
particionamento/montagem estao identicos.

Fazer um snmpget/snmpwalk a partir do servidor Nagios pode dar mais
informacoes a respeito do problema.

Use expect as a wrapper script to supply the password.

[Nagios-users] No Putput of check_http

2006-04-19 Thread Matthias Eichler
Hi,

I have the problem, that a special check_http-command is not
sending output to the nagios process.

In the GUI I get OK, but Info (No output!)
If I send the command via the bash of the server I get an
output of the plugin.

I use check_http (nagios-plugins 1.4.1) 1.81
with Nagios 2.0b4 on a SuSE something.

The command definition is:
define  command {
command_namecheck_http_status
command_line$USER1$/check_http -H status.$HOSTADDRESS$ -a
$USERS5$:$USERS6$
}

The service definition is:
define  service {
host_name   blade5.projektron.de
service_description HTTP - Statusseite
is_volatile 0
check_command   check_http_status
max_check_attempts  3
normal_check_interval   15
retry_check_interval5
active_checks_enabled   1
passive_checks_enabled  1
check_period24x7
parallelize_check   1
obsess_over_service 1
check_freshness 0
event_handler_enabled   1
flap_detection_enabled  1
process_perf_data   0
retain_status_information   1
retain_nonstatus_information1
contact_groups  support
notification_interval   15
notification_period 24x7
notification_optionsw,u,c,r,f
notifications_enabled   1
register1
}

The plugin execution in the CLI works very fine:
# ./check_http -H status.blade5.projektron.de -a Username:Password
HTTP OK HTTP/1.1 200 OK - 4317 bytes in 0.276 seconds
|time=0.276459s;;;0.00 size=4317B;;;0

Anybody any idea?!?

Thanks,

Matthias

Enjoyable? Not overly sure about that one
I stood up a second nagios system with notifications turned off and
recreated everything. It gave me a chance to better template things.
The config file formats have been redone, so if you just move them
over, you'll be bitten by a bunch of little things.

You might be able to import your configs into a tool like fruity, and
then export them as 2.x, but that might be more work than reward.

[Nagios-users] Initial check scheduling

2006-04-19 Thread Jee Kay
(Disclaimer: Currently running 1.3 as 2.x havn't made it into any apt repos yet)

I've got a strange problem with the initial scheduling of active
service checks..

Basically I have a bunch of service templates all of which have checks
at various intervals. For example, I have generic-service-1m,
generic-service-5m, generic-service-1h, etc, etc.

The problem I have is that then Nagios starts (or reloads...), it
schedules _all_ services evenly spaced out over an hour. Services that
are supposed to be checked every minute may thus not be checked for a
full hour after a reload. Interestingly, once the service has been
checked once it is then correctly scheduled for the next run (ie i get
a cluster of 1m services at the top of the scheduling queue after
Nagios has been running for a full hour).

Has anyone else seen this or know why this is happening?

Thanks,
Ras

 Hello,
I'm trying to get escalation working on a service I have running.
 This is what I currently have.

 define serviceescalation{
 host_name   web3.host.com
 service_description Bacula Process
 first_notification  3
 last_notification   10
 notification_interval   90
 contact_groups  admin-escalate
 }

 define service{
 use generic-service
 host_name   web3.host.com
 service_description Bacula Process
 is_volatile 0
 check_period24x7
 max_check_attempts  3
 normal_check_interval   5
 retry_check_interval2
 contact_groups  admins
 notification_interval   240
 notification_period 24x7
 notification_optionsw,u,c,r
 check_command   check_nt_bacula!192.168.1.5
 }

 I know that the contact_groups 'admin-escalate' works since I
 tried it in define service for contact_groups and it worked fine.

 Is there anything that I might of missed in defining my
 serviceescalation?

 Would appreciate any assistance. Thanks!

  Tom

Re: [Nagios-users] Re: Nagios Web Plugin

2006-04-19 Thread Scott Lundgren

Here's what you need to do:

Production Server
Make sure you have OpenSSL installed otherwise you'll not solve those ld.so
errors. Make sure the version of OpenSSL installed on this Solaris 9 server
matches the version installed on the Linux Server with Nagios installed. You
have to do this for NRPE checks over SSL. Recompile and reinstall the nagios
plugions yourself. Install NRPE.

Monitoring Server
Install NRPE and configure it to execute the check_http check remotely on
the Production Server.

 Nope..

 NAGIOS Host OS - LINUX CENTOS

 The remote web server that I want to monitor - Don't Know and doenst really
 interest me !

 The production server that is allowed to connect to the remote webserver and
 has some plugins such as check_ping, check_memory etc... OS - SOLARIS 9

 thnx

If you want to prevent emails about services becoming unknow for some users,
no matter what the service is, then edit the concerned contact definitions
and remove the u in the service_notification_options field.

If you want to prevent emails about specific services becoming unknow, no

 The command definition is:
 define  command {
 command_namecheck_http_status
 command_line$USER1$/check_http -H status.$HOSTADDRESS$ -a
 $USERS5$:$USERS6$
 }

Your user macro names are wrong. They should be $USER5$ and $USER6$.

2006-04-19 Thread Jones, Brian

Mark Duling, the gentleman who wrote the guide to setting up Nagios 2.2
on OSX, discovered the issue with the DarwinPort port of Nagios. The is
a temporary fix - a longer term fix would be to modify the port so
nagios can find utils.pm. Here is the fix:

 cd /opt/local/libexec/nagios
 sudo cp utils.pm  /opt/local/lib/perl5/5.8.8/darwin-2level/

 That will do it. The utils.pm needs to be copied to where perl knows
about it. I'm asking the DP folks how to do it for a more permanent
fix.

 Mark

This fixed the problem and I wanted to post it to share with anyone else
who may run across this issue.

Best regards,

Brian

I should add that I did execute the command from command line logged in

the command documented below would return:

OK: Interface Vlan 4 (Index 4) is up.

 notifiation_options for that service to not have 'u'.

Thanks, it's been a while since I've set those config settings. One of the
things I found on my server running nagios was that there were a large
number of 0 byte length files with the IP address of the server with a
randomization string at the end. I theorized that if a socket file already
exists, nagios sees it as an error. Therefore I deleted all the files and I
wonder why they're not being deleted automagically.

 What causes socket errors and how can I prevent them?

getting the Could not complete SSL handshake error. I've

The nrpe binary on the client was compiled against SSL

FAQ. No. See host vs. service checks in the docs. Look at what you're
using for a host check, and run that same thing as a regularly scheduled
service check... I'm guessing that's just a check_ping anyway.

I discovered the problem. It appears that on Solaris,
it's looking for nrpe.cfg in // according to truss:

18351:  open(//nrpe.cfg, O_RDONLY)Err#2 ENOENT

Even though, I have the following entry defined in /etc/inetd.conf:

nrpestream tcp nowait nagios /usr/local/nagios/bin/nrpe -c
/usr/local/nagios/etc/nrpe.cfg -i

BTW, the instructions also said to use --inetd, and I discovered that
was an invalid option. Should be -i.

Anyhow, for now, I just copied my nrpe.cfg to /. Has anyone
else ran into this? Is this a bug?

Thanks,

doing.

Works very well now!

Tom

Depends on what you are trying to accomplish. The syntax is fine assuming
nagios isnt complaining about it. What problem are you seeing?

 Subject: [Nagios-users] is my syntax ok for escalation?

 Hello,
I'm trying to get escalation working on a service I have running.
 This is what I currently have.

 define serviceescalation{
 host_name   web3.host.com
 service_description Bacula Process
 first_notification  3
 last_notification   10
 notification_interval   90
 contact_groups  admin-escalate
 }

 define service{
 use generic-service
 host_name   web3.host.com
 service_description Bacula Process
 is_volatile 0
 check_period24x7
 max_check_attempts  3
 normal_check_interval   5
 retry_check_interval2
 contact_groups  admins
 notification_interval   240
 notification_period 24x7
 notification_optionsw,u,c,r
 check_command   check_nt_bacula!192.168.1.5
 }

 I know that the contact_groups 'admin-escalate' works since I
 tried it in define service for contact_groups and it worked fine.

 Is there anything that I might of missed in defining my
 serviceescalation?

 Would appreciate any assistance. Thanks!

  Tom

Could you try the 1.4.3 release of the plugins?

Hi

i'm in the middle of doing a fresh install of latest and greatest 2.2 nagios
however, i can't seem to get the plugins to compile.

i get no errors on the configure other than a few warnings about no ldap,
msql, etc...

but get the following errors after i type make.

could someone kindly assist me in getting past the check_snmp.c compile?
i would really appreciate any advice or pointing in the right direction.
thanks.
