 Agree totally!

All alerts from Nagios go to the same post-processing script we built
and that's where they get shuffled off where they need to go, based on
 user preferences.

 This sounds amazing!

Is there any chance this could be released to the community?

You could look at NoMa (Notification Manager), which does the same:

 Hi list,

I am looking for a plugin to check IBM blades and chassis the way
plugins like check_openmanage do from quite some time now. I tried
googling it and browsing NagiosExchange but I didn't find what I'm
looking for. I found plugins to check specific hardware on specific IBM
 architecture but nothing really generalistic.

Does anyone have heard about or developed some check_ibm plugin ?

 Thanks,

Ok, but we don't have a SMS gateway yet, we use e-mail to txt, so it
costs money to receive txt messages this way, the blackberry data fees
are already high, using it would cut the txt msg fees.

I'm thinking about setting up an SMS gateway, though, any idea where to
 ask for info/ideas?

Multitech has Modems with Ethernet Interfaces. You just connect them to the
Network and send a text oder sms via Telnet commands:
 http://www.multitech.com/PRODUCTS/Categories/Device_Networking/

Is there a reason why you don't use a serial or USB modem.

It is much more flexible:

1. You can use them from servers without usb or serial ports, e.g. Small
appliances or blade servers.
2. You can place them anywhere on the network, e.g. If you don't have GSM
connectivity inside your data center
3. More then 1 Nagios server can use the same GSM modem
4. You don't need to install or configure anything hardware related on the
server.

Bye,
Julian

Wow, thanks. Have you built one? Is there a Linux package that exist
 to send the telnet commands?

No, we did not build a gateway, but we use smsservertools
(http://smstools.meinemullemaus.de/) together with Nagios and Multitech
Modems to send urgent notification on weekends. Works pretty good and we
wrote a Nagios Plugin to monitor the Modem itself:

Re: [Nagios-users] Nagios Konference 2007

2007-03-13 Thread Julian Hein
Hi,

Has anyone from the United States gone to the Nagios Konference held
in germany? I am thinking of asking my management to send me as I am
in charge of our nagios architecture which is quite large (6000+
hosts, 90,000 service checks in total). Specifically, how much of the
conference is in english and how worthwhile was it ? I have 3
semesters of German, but it has gone unused for quite some time.

Well, I am not from the US, but we are hosting the conference. We started the
conference last year and it was mainly in German. Only Ton's and Ethan's
speeches were in English. For this year we plan a complete track in English, so
there will be 2 German tracks and 1 English Track.

We would be very happy to have participants or speakers from the US. If you
have specific questions you can ask on the list or PM me.

Thanks for your interest,

Julian
