I'm not sure what the problem is here - it looks like a completely
standard financial services management company.

The legal bit is required by law to ensure that you understand the
potential risks and your are in the correct regulatory domain etc. All
hedge funds and other similar service providers are required to do the
same. One you have agreed to the T&Cs, you don;t see that window
again.

I spent years working for a hedge fund - we did exactly the same.

Hi Jeff,

I noticed that orders have dropped off quite a bit, and I'm just curious if
it's because you haven't had any orders, or if you've found a different source.

As always, I favor open communication between people whom I do business with.

Best regards,

Gene

That is the worst designed website I've ever seen, and I mean worst.
It's not even that it's simple or anything, it's just that the design
is so awful. If I had to guess, I would say it was a joke or a scam
front (I would lean towards joke based on the excessive use of stock
photos).

[neonixie-l] Custom text discharge tube

2011-03-10 Thread Imajeenyus
Hi folks,

Just joined the group, after meaning to for ages! I caught the Nixie bug
last year
and have been fascinated with them ever since, although I'm more interested
in the actual construction of the tubes (also love Panaplex displays). The
only thing
I've actually built* with* a Nixie was a little 0-9 counter
(link)
;-)

Since then, I've done a couple of Panaplex-like displays
(first,
second
),
and more recently a text discharge
tube,

which I though you might be interested
in. I'm trying to find out if there's any interest in a custom tube like
this with
your name or whatever spelled out in it. They're argon-filled and have a
lifetime of about 150 hours. If anyone would like getting a custom one
made, just drop me an email.

All the best,

Lindsay

That kind of control-freakism often puts me off so much that I just
leave the site and never come back. Some webmasters, site owners and
website design committees are simply too stupid for me to want to give
them any business. The few times that I stay at such a site, I open a
clone of the current window or tab, then click the link.

Re: [neonixie-l] How not to make a website

2011-03-10 Thread Instrument Resources of America
This is obviously a company that is VERY afraid of somthing or someone,
OR whose corporate attorneys created the web site. Not a good idea, and
definitely NOT a company that I would want to do business of any kind
with. There is a time and a place for the "small print", legalize, mumbo
jumbo, but should NOT be the very first thing you encounter on any
website. Good grief, what were these people thinking???Ira.

[neonixie-l] Happy with service and prices at http://tubes-store.com

2011-03-10 Thread Dave
As an fyi...
I placed an order for several tubes from http://tubes-store.com.
( I am not associated with these folks in any way other then being a
new customer)

The have some especially good deals on IN-12's & IN-2''s.
They actually have driver chips available for a 90 cents each.

I especially like their shipping calculator. It allows you to adjust
the quantity of items in the shopping cart to get as much as you can
before you bump up to the next level of shipping.
I was able to get 12 tubes, 4 sockets and some ICs for only $12
shipping from Russia.
I also adjusted my order mid-flight and they were very accommodating
and understood my English just fine.
With Nixie tubes for only $1 each, it's hard not to load up!
The order was well packed and got to me in three weeks.

So, Are they any clock PCB's available around the IN-2 Nixie? At $1 a
tube, that would be a sweet & cheap clock to build if someone has a
bare PCB for sale.

There's precision, and then there's precision. Nixie tubes are in the 5%
category, not the 1% category.

...clip..>
The upshot is that you can't optimize it to 1%, no matter how hard you
try. "Close enough" will have to do.
