Re: [neonixie-l] Fun new video on our work, w/ lots of beautiful Nixie shots
CTV and Ford recently did a short profile of the art+tech work my partner and I do, and within it we talk a bit about and show a couple of Nixie pieces. A nice shot of one of my favourites of your pieces (From Me To You). I always wondered how the algorithm worked that chose how to mutate words. - John -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups neonixie-l group. [neonixie-l] Anode Mesh or Anode Grid?
Hi Friends, What is the right word to use in English? Anode Mesh or Anode Grid? My thoughts: It is not a grid - since (you know) a grid in an electron tube can never be the anode. It is more a mesh. Or is another word better? What do you think? Dieter -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups neonixie-l group. [neonixie-l] Re: Anode Mesh or Anode Grid?
I'd say that you can use both grid and mesh since they do not describe the electrical properties in a Nixie, just the structure of the Anode made up by a grid or mesh structure. But in a thermionic valve they describe the control electrode if you use the word grid. In a thermionic valve you usually se mesh being used for describing the anode structure surrounding the cathode and grid, like in the EF86 which come in several different types where a few have a mesh Anode. Old patents use both mesh and grid to describe an Anode surrounding the digits and they then mean the structure of the anode and not the electrical properties like in a thermionic valve, that has already been explained by using the word Anode. /Martin On Monday, September 24, 2012 9:40:04 PM UTC+2, Nocrotec wrote: Hi Friends, What is the right word to use in English? Re: [neonixie-l] Anode Mesh or Anode Grid?
I would go with mesh since it really isn't a grid or used like a grid. And it looks like a mesh. [neonixie-l] Newbie 74141 help
I'm trying to figure out how a 74141 IC works, but it's making me feel stupid. Please keep in mind that i am completely new to electronics and circuits. Help?!? I've got a 74141 on a breadboard. Based on the datasheets and nixie clock schematics I've been studying I put 5vdc at pin 5 and pin 12 to ground. Right now I'm just trying to light up an LED (some nixies are coming in the mail). So I connected the LED to the 5v and to the 0 output at pin 16. Since all four inputs are at no power shouldn't this light the LED. Please tell me I'm just doing something stupid. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups neonixie-l group. Re: [neonixie-l] Newbie 74141 help
You need to bring the binary pins high or low. You've got them floating. Get a datasheet for the chip, and add voltages to the ABCD pins, in the proper configuration. There is a binary chart, as well as corresponding binary to pin layout, on that datasheet.
