MIB supported by net snmp 5.4.2.1

2009-03-17 Thread sanjaykumar

Hi All,
I am looking at different MIB doc and RFC supported under
net-snmp5.4.2.1

I have some doubt regarding IPV6 MIB.
As I found different part of this as IPV6-MIB, IPV6-UDP-MIB,
IPV6-TCP-MIB,
Are all this part of RFC4293 or they are
separate RFC( ?) number ?

What about system group. Is it supported
as per rfc1213 or rfc3418 ?

Thanks and Regards,
Sanjay Kumar

Please see http://www.net-snmp.org/docs/mibs/

All of your questions are covered by the information listed there.

What's the difference?
All of the RFC 1213 system objects appear in RFC 3418,
with exactly the same semantics. What difference does it make
where you take the specification from?

Re: Compiling a agent extension under Linux

This file only exists in win32/ folder of my net-snmp sources. Nothing
 like
  that on net-snmp\agent\mibgroup\

In which case there is definitely something strange about your copy
of configure. This should generate agent/mibgroup/mib_module_inits.h
at the same time that it generates agent/mibgroup/mib_module_includes.h

If that file isn't there, then you shouldn't be able to compile the
 software.

My mistake here. The file was there. But without a line to init my module.

By the way, i've download the sources again and runned configure
--with-mib-modules=KhompData and again it only put a commented line in
mib_modules_includes.h and nothing on mib_modules_init.h .

After that, I rename my source file KhompData.cpp to KhompData.c and runned
configure again. And that works. The line was uncommented on includes and
there was a  if (should_init(KhompData)) init_KhompData();  on
mib_modules_init.h .

BUT, i can't compile (make) the sources now because there are some C++
structures defined on my code. Anybody knows a solution to this? Without
having to convert and data structures and code to C style ;-)

thanks

 Dave

SNMP MIB Object

2009-03-17 Thread Tanisha Kashyap
Hi,

I have to define an alert as a MIB object. The object has a set of variables.
For one of the variables I need to add a tag inorder to differentiate one set
of alerts from another.
How can I do the same? Also what change will be required to be made to the MIB.

Thanks

2009-03-17 Thread Paul Pocock
Hi - I'm trying to talk to an APC power rail:

using NET-SNMP version 5.3.0.1

snmpwalk -v 3 -u myuser -l authNoPriv -a MD5 -A myuserpowermyuserapc -c
public   10.10.4.113

I recieve snmpwalk: Unknown user name

I also get this every 30 seconds:

I have set up the user on the server thusly:

# net-snmp-config --create-snmpv3-user -a aoscpoweruserapc aoscpower

adding the following line to /var/net-snmp/snmpd.conf:
createUser myuser MD5 myuserpowermyuserapc DES
adding the following line to /usr/local/share/snmp/snmpd.conf:
rwuser myuser

all files have the lines specified.
I start the daemon:

snmpd -f -Le -Dread_config -Dusm

and get:

read_config: /var/lib/net-snmp/snmpd.conf:1 examining: createUser myuser
MD5 myuserpowermyuserapc DES
read_config: Found a parser. Calling it: createUser / myuser MD5

but later get: (don't know if significant)

read_config: /var/lib/net-snmp/snmp.local.conf: No such file or directory
