Re: [NetBehaviour] learning to speak

2022-07-10 Thread Alan Sondheim via NetBehaviour
Thank you, this was troubling to write; I realized afterwards that if
someone has throat cancer, they might take offense - but it is about war
and torn bodies and the simultaneous beginning and ending of speech,
carried by the sound itself, as if from the interior of Plato's Cave... So
I didn't place it on Facebook, out of courtesy, but here it accompanies all
those other multimedias I've been working on. And thank you again , Best,
Alan

I really like this - especially 'does it not sound, Demosthenes, like
the roar of the ocean?'

slabs which totter. Mouths fill with pebbles to learn to speak,
speak in things down there and learn to speak about things, what
it is to speak about things, what it is when things speak,

slabs totter, buildings fall, bodies crumble, Mouths fill with
debris, mouths, Demosthenes, speak with debris against the roar
of cruise missiles -

within the roar of missiles, Demosthenes, as one speaks, here is
the roar, does it not sound, Demosthenes, like the roar of the
ocean?

does it matter, Demosthenes, if the dead cannot speak ("because
of" or "as a result of") their daemon ("because of an injury to
the throat" or "because their throat is torn [and therefore
they have no voice]") - and what would they have to say? ["and
who would say it"?] [perhaps a reference to the "death rattle"]

because who would say it?

who would say it, learning to speak?
