Dear Brian

Thank you very much for your message! Sorry, I lost your message in my
mailbox and I arrived a few days from Madrid after the exhibition was set
up and opened. We are very happy with this project! It's nice that you
mention Perder la forma humana, as I was one of the curators with Ana
Longoni, Fernana Carvajal, Mabel Tapia and other researchers of our "Red".

After "Perder la forma" project, Ana and I started working together on
Graphic Turn. This exhibition has a focus on actions of the present,
although we have included several historical cases such as the graphics
produced by students of Fine Arts in Montevideo between the 60s and 70s, a
stupendous room in the exhibition set up as a timeline with the political
graphic in Nicaragua after the Sandinista revolution in 1979 to the present
time; and the embroidery that forms a set of testimonies made by Salvadoran
women during the armed conflict (1980-1992) -  after decades of military
dictatorships, operations in rural areas multiplied, causing the
displacement of thousands of families who sought refuge in the camps in
neighboring Honduras, protected by the United Nations.

And there are more recent and urgent cases that we included in the
exhibition and after a long research, such as graphic actions, embroidery
and interventions in memory of the 43 students of Ayotzinapa, a lot of
material from collectives  and artists in Chile, Cuba, Peru, Argentina,
Brazil after the 2016 coup against Dilma Rousselff , many episodes of
graphic and social experiments of solidarity between different movements
and migrant experiences, such as the Co-op La voz de la mujer in Buenos
Aires (https://www.instagram.com/grafica_lavozdelamujer/) or the Zapantera
Negra project, with Emory Douglas' encounters with Zapatista communities in
San Cristobal de Las Casas ( there is a fabulous installation in the
exhibition with many of these materials). There is a small part of the
exhibition that will sound very familiar to you, because it is dedicated to
counter-cartographies of groups such as Grupo de Arte Callejero, Bureau
d'Etudes, Iconoclasistas, Redretro

After Madrid, the exhibition will travel to MUAC, Mexico, in November and
will stay until July of next year. Hope you can visit!

recreating many works from archival traces, and which revealed how the
formation of subcultures (sexual especially) took place in Latin America in
the Eighties, often during the gradual decline of dictatorships. That was a
great show, and anyone who's curious can find a catalog pdf out there
somewhere I reckon.

What is the undercurrent of this new exhibition? I mean, what did you
discover?

I managed to catch Perder la forma humana in Buenos Aires, what luck. Will
this one travel? BA again maybe? Somewhere in US?
