I come from Linpus Infotech Inc. I`m in change of NetworkManger`s
customization 。
Now , our company is developing Moblin system. But moblin system is not
support traditional system tray, and they have no plan to fix this issue.
So NetworkManger(gnome) could not be run on moblin system.
Gconnman and Carrick (moblin NetworkManager tools) , we think that it is
not widely support, for example , 3G, wireless encryption and so on.
So we need to add NetworkManager (gnome) to moblin system. If we have to
do this , we must re-write some code about applet.
The applet must be run well both gnome and moblin desktop.
Now we have a plan(NetworkManager(gnome) running on moblin ) to do.
So if someone have good idea about this , please share to me.

There is in fact network-manager-netbook [1] that is written as a
carrick style of interface for Moblin. This has been written by the
SuSE guys and works with NetworkManger 0.7. Unfortunately it doesn't
work yet with the NetworkManager 0.8 that is going to be in Fedora 12.
I'm not sure what version your using as a base but I seem to remember
Linpus uses Fedora as a base distro. If your using F-11 or less it
should work fine. If your planning on using Fedora 12 its probably
better to assist in the porting effort to get a patch for
network-manager-netbook to work with NetworkManager 0.8. There have
been a couple of emails about it to this list over the last month or
so which have more information. There's also quite a bit of cross
over between network-manager-applet and network-manager-netbook so for
a port to 0.8 you should be able to use that as a base.
I'm currently the maintainer of Moblin in Fedora.
