RE: [newbie] shutdown problem
halt Angel Claudio Alvarez -Mensaje original- De: evan light [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Enviado el: Jueves 13 de Abril de 2000 17:41 Para: newbie Asunto: [newbie] shutdown problem Hi there...having a bit of a problem with shutting down 7.0. When I issue the "shutdown now" command, everything seems fine and dandy until it switches into "single-user" mode. If I try ctl-ald-del at the single-user prompt, I get the message "no authorized users logged in." If I try shutdown again, it spins for a bit and goes right back to single-user mode. At that point, I couldn't do anything but cringe and power it off.. Anybody have any ideas? -evan-

Typically, from Windows, you would use "\\SERVER\SHARENAME" - In Linux, would you have to mount it as a drive, or is there another way?
RE: [newbie] SAMBA ?
Hi read the samba-HOWTO there is a lot of information there Angel Claudio Alvarez -Mensaje original- De: Josep Molero i Puig [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Enviado el: Miércoles 12 de Abril de 2000 13:54 Para: FLinux (Correo electrónico) Asunto: [newbie] SAMBA ? I'm administering a NT domain. I'm new in Linux world ... and wanna learn about this system. Now, I have a PC running a NT workstation and it can boot to Linux as a normal desktop system. I'm able to use the NT Proxy Server using Netscape under my Linux-mandrake 7.0 (manually configuring the proxy entries in my Netscape) I'd like to see the whole of my Windows NT LAN, to be able to get all the NT shares and printers... For this purpose I think I need something named SAMBA ... I have been hearing a lot about SAMBA, and have been searching in Internet about it. Think SAMBA is a sort of Comunnication Suite, but ... don't know more about it. I have seen there are serveral GUI to manage SAMBA ... but ... here are my (stupid) questions : Where is SAMBA in my Linux-Mandrake 7.0 ?? Is it a service ? Is it always running ? If not ...
