CompuServe can be made to run on an OS/2 box. If you look hard enough, there are even software that alow you to connect to AOL under linux, though I don't remember where. So, if people are writing software to allow AOL to run on a linux box, someone is/has probably developed some software to allow you to connect with CompuServe. Search www.freshmeat.net for CompuServe. I still find this sort of thing a little strange. Generally the kind of people who know enough about systems to run Linux want REAL ISPs, not wannabee ISPs like AOL/Compu$erve. Kinda like setting up a 2.5Ghz Pentium V to run Pong... Just my $0.02 (Florida residents add 6.5% Sales Tax) Regards, Ozz. You use what you have access to. Some of us don't have multipule choice regarding ISP's or cable TV for that matter. It took 7 years to get cable TV up here in the mountains yet we have 5 ISP's to choose from. Go figure. And AOL is the largest ISP corporation in the word. That hardly rates as a wannabe. chris Dual Boot Windows Millennium/Mandrake 7.1 (helium) Home of the BURMA CAVE! For grub, you can consult man grub how to do it, I don't recall off my head. Re: [newbie] No mail sent by Netscape
Dennis Myers wrote: I must be the only person in the world that has run into the problem of Netscape not wanting to send mail cause it can't make a temporary file. Does anybody know where netscape would make the file in order to send it. I have downloaded the new 4.74 files hoping that that would solve the problem. Nope. If there is a /tmp or something like a cache that is full, I can't find it. I have emptied the caches in netscape and still no go. Maybe I have inadvertantly deleted a file in linux. Have not seen my post from Suns Star Office show upyet so that must not be working. I am sending mail to the list using my Win box at home and at work. Also using Netscape on those two, no problem. There is no help on the Netscape sites. They don't acknowledge the possiblilty of a problem and I have searched the archives and other discussion groups. This seems to be unique. Any suggestions other than reinstall the whole 7.1 set would be appreciated. Dennis Check your Home Directory for a sub folder (directory) under nsmail/tmp

I'm not familiar with AOL so I don't know if you can logon and use another browser like Netsacpe or Internet Explorer. If you can, you might try to logon to AOL with LINUX(KPPP)and see if you can use Netscape or whatever browser you use. Email is another story so I won't address it now. Other Options: Do you have an allowance? Can you wash cars, mow lawns, do general around the house fix ups? Paint house numbers on the curb?
