[newbie] Trying to fix bad 9.1 by do upgrade.
Hello. I have tried to fix my Mandrake 9.1 on my 1 of 2 pc by do som cdrom 9.1 and 92. cdrom install using upgrade but when the install has reach to the mouse driver install and has load the driver (standard/ps2) in for install does the install screen freeze and nothing more happens, and showing only the screen look for install where i canmove the curson around on the screen, this happen in several minutes up to 15-45 min. The pc is a Pentium 2 266Mhz 256Mb ram with a wireless mouse and a cdrom there has some trouble bying let the cdrom go in and out. [newbie] *HELP* Do MandrakeUpdate without graphic use.
Hello. Is there a way on run MandrakeUpdate (Live_update) from the prompt after login as root, like doing command ./MandrakeUpdate or sh MandrakeUpdate, so there can be checked for updates? [newbie] VS: Trying Upgrade 9.1 to 9.2
Hello. I have tried to do the Upgrade of 9.1 to 9.2 by cdrom installing to see if I can getting a better system workinp on my PC Epox P2 amd 256Ram IBM 500MHz and when i have the pc into do some by the ramdisk, version 9.2 saying ramdisk error, but it goes fine with usig the version 9.1 install cds. Is there som of that 9.1 not can be install and upgraded to 9.2 by the 9.2 cd1. The same goes on my 2th linux pc where i have got the trouble and problem that the my Xfree and hd partion install maker function hang in lot of minutes wit a black screen, when I trying use [drakconf] then [install new harddisk}, and here have I first tried to run cd install + upgrade for 9.1 and got that the install screen hang up rigth after I have shoosing standard mouse driver selv if the mouse is a wireless ps2 mouse and if i have choose ps2 mouse it install the driver and then hang without doing anymore on installing. After about 15 min. to 30 min. i got tried of there nothing happens and do reboot the pc and then I still can start up linux, and then try a new install upgrade with the version 9.2 cd1, it go on and reach to load the ramdisk and first stoppin and saying ramdisk error and I take out the 9.2 cd1 install and put another install c1 for 9.2 and here it goes fine until it have insalled the mouswe driver and htne now hang up as by with the 9.1 installing. The pc is a PII 266 266Mhz 256MB ram and 2 x 120GB hds. Hello Joe Hill I have have got some problem with the X when I trying to run command startX Can you describe the errors? Look in /var/log/XFree86.0.log for line that begin with [EE] for possible reasons for the failure. By starting: # startX I got this Using Xauth... Writing Xauth... Using Xauth.. Writing Zauth.. execve failed for /etc/X11/X (errno 2) giving up. Xinit no such file or directory (errno 2): unable to connect to Xserver then a line with (errno 3): server error. Write more later on it. after I have run liveupdate and udpated the Xfree86 on my 2 pc's with version 9.1, it looks like Mandrake 9.1 not have done the update as it should but just have removed the working Xfree and not installed the new updated one as it shall and then will the Xree window not run. Do 'rpm -qa | grep XFree' and post the results. How can I fix it to it will work again.
