[newbie] GnuPG

2001-04-16 Thread Jeremy Hughes

RPMDrake is telling me that GnuPG
is not installed right..
but i have used it fine in the past.. What is
wrong here.. It just crapped out on me for no reason.. I was trying to get
SAMBA to work I don't think that could have killed
RPMDrake??

If * I * were to respond to anyone's query posted to a mailing list with
the word "newbie" in it, I'd try to be helpful because I'd assume they would
be new and could use some help.
Nobody was born knowing how to use Majordomo lists...
If you want to help, then help.
If you want to be a big shot, beat it.

Hans! That is an excellent idea! I'm gonna do that
immediately, too.

Which brings up a question: is there some way to ban people

GO BACK to where you joined this list...
THERE, you'll also find (if you'll ONLY read)
a way to get off the list.

OF COURSE, " IF " you can READ

Hi everybody, newbies as well experts.
I am getting everybody about 100 messages, i dont' mind with it. i love to
read all of them, try to understand the problems that our linux-brothers
are
facing, like to ask sometimes, like to reply sometimes.
but it's a good feeling. All i have to say it, can not we make a Uniform
format for writing and replying mails to each other. Like when you reply,
the person's whom you are replying, mail sometimes is at top or sometimes
at
bottom. sometimes three or four people's are replying.so can not
understand
quickly who has asked and who has replied ? can not everybody decides to
answer and ask quetions in some defined uniform formats, so everybody can
communicate with each other easier and quicker ?
Thanks everybody, if you like suggestions, please come forward and let's
 decide.
Thanks all of you everybody in advance.
I dont' mind if you people don't like the suggestions too.
 Ritesh Ahya.

Hi, I'm in the process of trying to secure my system. I have
pmfirewall set up and working well, but there are a lot of holes

unnecessary startup services, both for speed and security. I've shut
a bunch down, mostly servers that I'm not running, but there are a few
 that I'm not sure about.

 Namely:

 xfs
 rawdevices

 irda
 fetchmail
Do I need these to run a home workstation, (connected to the internet,
but not wanting to run any servers or anything like that at this

i am also trying to figure out which i need for a workstation. I you
