[newbie] popper hung

2000-08-17 Thread Joseph Lee Pereira

Hello,
I have found that by repeatedly hitting the Get Mail you basically
lock up sendmail. It does not matter what mail client you use,
Netscape, Pegasus, etc. One user knowing this trick can lock up mail
retrieval for the entire network.

Anyone have a solution?

Using:
Sendmail 8.10.1
Kernel 2.2.16
Mandrake 7.1
popper 4.24

Thanks...

[newbie] Building MC file

2000-08-08 Thread Joseph Lee Pereira

I want to thank all the responses to my previous questions! I have
been convinced to avoid linuxconf at all costs!!

Unfortunately I did use linuxconfig last Friday and my company is now
running it's mail server on an outdated cf file. I need to remedy
this ASAP.

I don't have time at this point to go through the bat book and learn
to configure a .mc. I need help is placing the correct setting in the
mc file so I can generate a cf file as soon as I get in on Monday.

I would like to ask one giant favor of anyone out there, please put
together an mc file for me. I'm supplying the info below.

Mail Server: host.domain.com
Domain: domain.com
Present your system as: domain.com
Mail Gateway: host.domain.com
Mail Gateway Protocol: SMTP
Accept mail from both: host.domail.com and domain.com
Alias for the system: host
DNS features: DNS enabled
Message size limits: 2mb (having this restriction will it prevent
D.O.S attack?)
I want to control the relay option to prevent spammers from using our
mail server, but I want all the internal users not to have any
restrictions.

I'll be forever grateful to anyone who will take the time to help me
out.

I have:
Sendmail 8.10.1
Kernal 2.2.15-4mdk
Mandrake 7.1

[newbie] LinuxConf Sendmail.cf

2000-08-07 Thread Joseph Lee Pereira

Unfortunately I need to use linuxconf to generate a sendmail.cf file.

Linuxconf points to /usr/lib/linuxconf/mailconf to get the info to
generate it's sendmail.cf file. Problem is those old files generate a
8.8.7 sendmail.cf file. I have Sendmail 8.10.1; I need to have
linuxconf use the correct 8.10.1 files. How do I do this? What files
do I use from Sendmail 8.10.1? Where do I place those files?

I know this a very basic question, so I appreciate any and all advice
I can get. I'm very new to Linux, so I appreciate your patience in
replying to my request for help. Thank you in advance!!
