Re: [newbie] DIRECT CONNECT active mode and SHOREWALL
Hi Harv, I am running MDK 9.0 on a 450MHz AMD K6-II processor at home, with 3 NICs. One is connected to the ADSL line, others are configured as a LAN bridge and connected to W2K/XP machines. This system was up and running in an hour including samba and printer sharing and works great without any problem. Now this server works as a mail server for the family, an SMS gateway and a host for ALEX, an authomatic 144MHz sporadic propagation alert system. I'm sure SHOREWALL/MDK can be configured, what I am missing is the relevant information on DC. I tried SuSE and REDHAT, spent sleepless nights with a crapy system. A hw ADSL is router is great, but not an option for me. Best regards, 73... "Pissed Off" is just a mild description for my feelings of frustration. My solution was to purchase a D-Link DI-604. http://www.dlink.com/products/broadband/di604/ The thing contains an embedded firewall/router accessible with any browser and 4 Ethernet ports. Cost $(us) 45, UPS delivered. What is your time and sanity worth? Plus, you'll be able to build a decent server with the machine you were going to use for a router/firewall ... or better use the machine to run HF PSK/Amtor, etc Harv KG9GA Washburn, WI On Saturday 01 March 2003 01:11 am, Bela Markus wrote: Hi, I spent nights without any success to configure SHOREWALL in 9.0 to run Direct Connect (DC++ exactly) to run in active mode. [newbie] EVOLUTION IMAP problem
Hi, I'm running the standard IMAP server supplied with MDK9 and EVOLUTION clients. The problem is, that can't create subdirectories on the server with EVOLUTION. Using MS OUTLOOK/OUTLOOK EXPRESS appending the / char to the directory name allows to create subdirs in it, but EVOLUTION rejects such names. Any advice? I have no experience with CYRUS IMAP server. Bela When you installed from scratch, did that include /home? It's possible that if your user directory already existed and you reinstalled Mandrake (any linux) that if the /home/username is the same as your user id, you don't have permissions in it. If you think this might be the case, as root you can type chown -R userid /home/userdirectory and that will reset the ownership of the home directory. If that is not the case, if you create another user, can that user get into KDE? Joeb Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? In 8.2 this was possible to define the source of the packages.
