I had a similar problem, and X PDF seems to work for me. I don't recall if

  Greetings again,
Ive installed Star Office in MDK7 and I notice that everything seems to
go much slower in Linux than in Windoze. Slower opening up Star Office,
slower opening files, slower printing etc.Can I do anything to
  speed things up?

I think there are some more serious problems with your setup, but I need
 more information... =(

Hi Stephen,
Hey I appreciate your various suggestions/comments to my questions (and to
those of many others) in this forum.
Well, what can I tell you?
The box is an HP Pavilion 6425, with AMD K-2 500 + 64 MB RAM..PCI modem,

which of course doesn't work in Linux (no sound either, yeah I know I have
to change the soundcard).
The installation of MDK7 as I mentioned earlier (Prob4 Acrobat4...elsewhere)

went fine, though I can't remember which one I
chose.
I dont know what else you might need to know...?

[newbie] Prob1-KDE desktop

2000-04-03 Thread Marriott Man

Hi again people,
I was tinkering (logged on as user Paul) in KDE and the result is
this..when I rightclick on the desktop and select the New option, I
only have the Folder icon...ive lost the device, application etc
icons. This only happens when logged on in my name..Logged on as
root or other users gives me the full list of options under the New
submenu.
What do I have to do to get those options back?
Thanks to all in advance.

[newbie] Prob2- Netscape

2000-04-03 Thread Marriott Man

Hi again,
3 quickies:
1 - Netscape just shuts itself down sometimes without warning...is this
a Netscape oddity or a Mandrake Linux problem?
2 - is Netscape so meant to look so dull and lacking in colour?
(compared to the win version it IS a bit boring to look at)
3 - Netscape is noticibly slower connecting and loading pages off the
Webis this normal?
Oh, I'm using ver 4.7 that came with MDK7.0
Thanks again in advance for everyones patience.
Paul
Ps...I think a couple of these questions were previously aired in this
forum, but I had a little accident and wiped out a whole bunch of
stuff :o(
