[newbie] Dual boot with Windows 2000

2000-03-14 Thread Ron Burns

How can this be done? I have tried Linux as the
first installed OS and then tried Win 2k
and then I tried the reverse. I cannotget
Lilo to function (install). This was not a problem
with '98 and worked well. Any help would be
appreciated. BTW...my drive is formated
fat 32 at this point. Previously, it was fat32 and
I allowed Mandrake to do the rest.

Thanks Ron

I am having problems with my PS2 mouse in Mandrake 7.0.

When ever there is a fair amount of disk activity the pointer will jump
accross the screen with the slightest movement. Any one experienced
 this.

Also is there anyway to get my mouse wheel working?

 Thanks
 Sean

Hi Sean

After many stupid mistakes, I finally figured this out

I had to reinstall Mandrake 7.0 and when prompted, chose the "expert Install".
It asks you what kind of mouse you have. Choose Mouseman+ /firstmouse for PS2.
After the install is complete, got to http://klug.armintl.com/tech/ns-wheel.html
and download the config file for Nescape 4.7. Switch to root before you complete
the instructions on that site. You will have to rename the file btw.

Good luck

Ron

I agree! I just enlarged the display fonts and it looked a tad (not too much)
better. Unfortunately it's the latest.

in it, just read it. I find the constant "lose the html"

because I refuse to use a mail client that can't display html

Hi Alan...

Is there actually an email client that will display html under Linux?

Thanks

[newbie] e-mail clients rtf

2000-02-13 Thread Ron Burns

I just want to thank everyone who responded to my post on shared files.
Thanks! :) My next question is,
is there an e-mail client available that will read rtf? or html? The
reason that I am asking is that my wife refuses to use a standard
e-mail client under Linux and insists on Outlook express. I would like
to lose
windows all together. I have searched so far to no avail.. Any help
would be appreciated

Thanks

[newbie] shared libraries?

2000-02-12 Thread Ron Burns

Hi everyone I have Linux Mandrake 7.0 succesfully installed on my
machine!!! What a treat in comparison to the usual boring Windows. I am
trying to install an RPM that says it has a dependancy
on libjpeg.so.6. Is this not a file that is required by alot of KDE
apps? Please help.. so far this is the second app that requires this
library and it remains elusive.

Thanks a million

Ron
