[newbie] netword card
Hi, I post my message again since I haven't received any response and I haven't resolved the problem. I have got a notebook with a combo 3c575cT network card. The card is recognised by Mandrake 8.0. When I try to ping myself, the data packets aren't send. When I configure manually the IRQ and the I/O parameters, the packets are sent but lost. Has someone an idea to solve this problem ? [newbie] ftp server: maintenance in progress
Hi everyboddy, Since I upgraded to linux mandrake 8.0 my ftp server is unreachable. When I try to connect by ftp to my machine, I got the following message: 500 FTP server shut down (Maintenance in progress). I checked in the DrakConf the services who where running. Proftpd (1.2.2-0.rc1.3mdk) and xinetd (2.1.8.9pre14-5.mdk) where running. I tried the proftpd -t command to check if the were syntax errors in my config file but everything worked properly. Hi, How can I know what dit the installation of a rpm ? I am wondering because I installed the GSL rpm but I do not find the gsl_math.h file. Something went perhaps wrong during the installation... [newbie] ftp transfer
Hello, I have a problem to transfer files. When I try to transfer a file from my pc (with gftp) to a particular PC, I get the message "No such file or directory". When I try to transfer a file from this station to mine, it works perfectly. I have no problem with other pc to transfer files by ftp. So I think that the problem is linked with the other one but I have no idea how to resolve such a problem. Thank you Frdric
[newbie] no postscript printers in linuxconf
Hello, I try to print with lpr under mandrake 7.2. I installed the rhs-filters, printtool, control-panel and of course the lpr rpm. When I add a printer with linuxconf I can't choose a postscript printer. Has anyone a solution ? PS: I have installed once again the ghostscript package. Frdric Rooms
[newbie] switching between two color mode
Hi, I've got an application that needs to be run in 256 colors. The problem is that I work normally in 65536 colors. Has anybody an idea to solve this problem (of course I can change each time I use it but it is very annoying). Thanks a lot Frdric
[newbie] printer and cups no longer available
Hello, I have just installed the update of the cups files with the Update tools from Mandrake (7.2 version). Since then, I can not print anymore. The commands like lpd do not exist anymore. When I try ton configure my printer with the cups tools, nothing happens. When I use the Printer tool from Mandrake, a dialog box says that the cups database is being rebuilt but after a few minuts disappear without doing anything else. Has someone the solution ? Hello, I installed the mandrake 7.2 distribution. When I try to print via the network with a HP4050 printer, I only get PJL commands. I downloaded the latest version of the driver but it still doesn't work. Has someone an idea ? Thanks a lot. Frdric Rooms
