[newbie] xmms et netscape 7.0
Hello, When I surf on the internet with netscape 7.0 and use at the same time Xmms, my browser freezes: the page is not downloaded. I have to stop to play music (I don't even need to quit Xmms) and it works fine. Has anyone the same problem or a clue to solve this problem ? [newbie] GNU readline library
Hello, I'm trying to compile the rlterm program working with the GNU readline libraries. As a real newbie in compiling issue, I don't understand the the problem which is happening. I have got the GNU readline 4.3 package installed on my computer. Rlterm requires libreadline.a which doesn't seem to exist for Mandrake. Is it however necessary to have this particular file or is possible to replace the libreadline.a library with one of the GNU readline package ? If anyone has an idea, I would greatly appreciate. I join the Makefile program. thanks a lot, Fred # replace this with the directory containing libreadline.a # or blank if libreadline.a is visible to your compiler LIBDIR = -L/home/munro/readline-2.0 # The following switches may be necessary in order for rlterm.c to # find termio and signal headers on your system: # -DUSE_TERMIOS to use termios.h (otherwise termio.h) # -DUSE_SYS_TERMIO to use sys/termio.h or sys/termios.h # -DPOSIX_TERMIO to use tc.etattr instead of ioctl (implies USE_TERMIOS) # -DNO_SIGACTION if no sigaction or it doesn't take SA_NOCLDSTOP flag RLDEFS = LIBS = -lreadline -ltermcap ALLFLAGS = $(CFLAGS) $(LDFLAGS) $(DEFS) $(RLDEFS) rlterm: rlterm.c $(CC) $(ALLFLAGS) rlterm.c ${LIBDIR} ${LIBS} -o rlterm clean:: rm -f rlterm *~ Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? [newbie] libaudiofile.so.0 missing
Hello, I have just installed my soundcard. DrakConf automatically detected the sound card. However when I try to launch noatun (which I supposed to be the kde media player) I get the following message: noatun: error while loading shared libraries: libaudiofile.so.0: cannot load shared object file: No such file or directory although such library (and the devel package) is installed in the /usr/lib directory. Does anyone have an idea to solve the problem ? Thank you, Fred Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? Go to http://www.mandrakestore.com

[newbie] conditionnal test in bashrc
Hi, I'd like to mount automatically a samba account when I log in a graphic session. Up to now, I have modified the bashrc file so that it logs in. Unfortunately, it mounts my account each time I run a new terminal which is annoying as it takes two seconds. Therefore, I would like to test if my connection is active or not. If I was not connected then I'd like to connect. Is it possible ? The conditionnal test would be: if disconnected then smbmount end Do you have an idea to realize this test ? Re: [newbie] PDF Files
Hi, One way is to print into a postscript file and the convert in pdf thanks to the pdf2ps command. Is there a LInux wordprocesser that will export in .pdf? Corel WP does not so I am back in the Windows box for yet another reason. Right now this issue, DesignCad, and PCB Designer are all that are holding me to Windows. I know.I have Linux programs that cover the CAD stuff, but the learning curve is digging in to my basic lazy character. Anyway, I'm not a nut to get off Windows. I found that if I keep two Windows boxes and the Linux box in network, mirror important Windows stuff in the two boxes and archive in the Linux box where everything is snug and secure, BSOD can't get me! I have the best of both worlds. A little expensive, but us lazy guys have to go the distance. When I get free, what do I do with the other two boxes?
