hello friends, is it possible to create (save ) automatic files ( like batch files in Windows) in Linux ? How ? I want to use this not to do always the same things in console. I mean , for example I always mount a flash drive in console with some commands. I want to write these commands to a file ( like batch files in windows) and save this file on desktop. And if I want to run these command file I will double click on this file and it will run automatically and do the job for me ?? Best regards. [newbie] Blueetooth network with Mandrake how ??
Dear Friends, I want to make network connection between my Laptop and Desktop computer at home. They both have usb bluetooth dongle. [newbie] USB Flash memory mounted but does not function
Dear Friends, I have an IOMEGA 128 mb USB (1.1) flash memory. When I plug it to USB port my system ( Mandrake 10.0 - kernel 2.6. ) recognizes and mounts it under /mnt/removable but when I want to go into it and save a data and to copy files from that ; System says that device is not reachable. ( There is no problem with permissions !! ) I think , there is something wrong with the installation of this flash memory.. This device was well running under Mandrake 9.2.. !! [newbie] My notebook's modem and kernel 2.6
Dear friends, I have a new notebook ( Fujitsu Siemens 1840 ). Its modem is smartlink 56k (onboard). Under linux ,chipset name is Sis 7013. I downloaded latest linux driver (2.9.7) from Smartlink's Site . I installed it. Everything seems OK. Bu it does not run . When running Kppp and make query modem ,system finds the modem under ttySL0 , but all answers for ATI commands are empty. I use Mndrk 10.0 ande kernel 2.6 What can I do ?? Any help is appreciated.. Looks then that konq is not in the path. If you can run it from the menu and it fires up, that should be it from what I can tell. Otherwise it is not installed. When I re-install nvidia driver once more X starts normally and then can not next time (next boot ).. My gr. card is Geforce fx 5200 , and mobo is Asus a7n8x-deluxe. All help is appreciated. [newbie] My screen and Modem
Hello Friends, I have a new notebook. 1) Its monitor resolution is 1280 * 800 ( 15,4 inch wide screen ). But when I configure X while installing Mandrake 10,0 , There was no such a resolution choice. So I chose 1024 * 768 . It works , but how can I configure the original resolution. 2) Modem is onboard ( sis 7013 etc. ) . On Win XP it seems as Smartlink 56K Modem . A few years ago I got such a modem to work somehow under Linux. But I forgot . Could anyone help me ?? Any help is appreciated. Best Regards.. H. Dear Friends, I installed Madrake 9.2 on my fujitsu - siemens amilo D 6820 notebook. Almost everything fine but the monitor flickers but it is robust on XP with 1024 * 768 @ 60 hz.Mandrake shows my monitor ( display ) as flat panel 1024 * 768 . [newbie] My system crashes on Mandrake 9.2 ??!! Is linux really stable ??
Dear Friends , I have Asus A7n8x-deluxe , 2500 + athlon and Asus FX 5600 vga card. I installed Mandrake 9.2 and I also installed latest original mainboard and vga drivers from Nvidia's site. Everything ( even 3com lan adapter ) works fine. I see no fail message during boot -up. I also installed some styles( aqua ) from www.kde-look.org and normally there seems no any error. But my system crashes randomly ( stops responding , no mouse and no keyboard !! ) . I experienced this while I was scrolling with mouse ( mouse stopped suddenly ) . This happened twice in 3 hours. When I was using Win XP I had the same problem ( The system crashed randomly in 3 hours or sometimes did not crash at all several days. I mean This happened randomly . But after installing latest XP drivers for mobo and VGA I did not experience any crash since 7 days of hardwork on XP. It seems It is OK on XP , but how about on Mandrake 9.2 ??. My rams are Kingston. My power supply unit is 400 W Zalman. Is there any possibility of hardware failure if so how can I understand ?? And if the reason is somehow Mandrake 9.2 ; I heard always that linux is much more stable , so what is this ? And what can I do if such crash happens on Mandrake ? should I wait ? or should I reset the computer ?? since keyboard and mouse does not respond. Thanks.. Hertas. [newbie] Grey fields in yanc ( set-up tool for nvidia graphic chipset )
Dear Friends , I am looking for a easy and fast set -up tool for my nvidia chipsetted , ASUS FX 5600 vga card. I found and installed yanc , however when I run this program , the most useful fields ( such as twinview , tv -out etc.) are always grey ( not enabled for selection ). Could anybody help me about this. I am using latest nvidia driver ( downloaded and installed) and Xfree 4.3 with hardware acceleration. Or is there any other program that is used to configure XFConfig-4 easily.?? Or does anyone know if nvidia itself will give us a its own brand -new config. program in the near future.??? Thanks..
