Hi folks,

Kindly reply at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Presently I am using 3.20.32a18mdk version of mysql, but this one doesn't
support GRANT command.

Do you know of any other release that supports GRANT ?

Thanks,
-Vishal.

2000-02-17 Thread vishal bansal

Hi,

Please reply at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I am using linux-mandrake 7.0. My bash shell prompt used to be
root@localhost. I launched the pws program and created a new server called
vishal (my own name).
After I rebooted the prompt changed to root@vishal. Now I can't use the
MySQL utilites like mysqladmin, etc..

How can I recover my previous settings.

Re: [newbie] I'm new, help :)

2000-02-07 Thread vishal bansal

Hi Anth:

I would recommend that you first create the linux native and swap partitions
using fdisk or Partition magic. Partition magic is very easy to use, I do!
Then reboot from CD-ROM (if your bios supports that). Else run the cd-rom
from dos, else use linux floppy disk for installation.
The cd-rom has plenty of documentation, I would read that first!
Any problems, let me know!

-Vishal.

Hi I'm entirely new to the Linux world, and I was interested in trying out
Mandrake's Linux. First of all, I would like to know if it will run on
such
a system with 233 mhz AMD-K6 and 32 MB ram. (It's my old computer ^_^)

Secondly, how do you install it? I put in the disc and restarted, and then
I came to a menu asking for a partition. I have no idea how to work this,
so help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Anth

[newbie] Urgent !

2000-02-04 Thread vishal bansal

Hi folks:

I have installed win95/dos along with Linux-Mandrake 6.1 on my computer. I
was able to run linux fine until I did this;

Using cat /proc/meminfo, it showed me the swap space as 0 and used 0.
Thus I edited the file /etc/lilo.conf and added the line append="mem=80M"
before the first image statement. Then I saved the file and ran lilo. Then
instead of using shutdown command I went for the soft boot accidently (ctl +
alt + del).

When I booted the computer again, lilo started loading linux and gave me the
following errors;

Kernal Panic: Attempted to kill the idle task
In swapper talk- not syncing.

Your help will be appreciated.

-Vishal.

[newbie] Linux Mandrake 6.1 Installation

2000-02-01 Thread vishal bansal

Hi folks:

I am trying to install Linux-mandrake 6.1. I am using linux boot disk.
After entering the key board entry as us, I come to the intallation screen
where I am asked which media am I going to use for installation. The options
listed are:

1. NFS image 2. FTP 3. HTTP

But my installation media is the CD-ROM. I was expecting one of the options
as Local CD-ROM.I am not using any PC cards and have no PCMIA sockets.

What should I do?
