I've recorded 8.1 on CDRW but it was not possible for 8.2!

But as sb said 700Mb *is* the standard nowadays...
Why stand for less for the same price?

At least in UK, as said before, and in Brazil!

Yeah, the forum had a comment on that right after beta 1 was released. I guess
they decided they couldn't change it just now. I will bet that it is set up
at less than 650 per CD on final though. Course I never win any bets and stay
away from casinos for that reason. : )

 I agree up to a point, and that is some of the things that are broken
 can be annoying. Like /etc/fstab having a bunch of none set for dev
 so floppy zip and cdrom don't work until you edit the file. Otherwise
 the look is good and speed seems to noticeably faster. Also, have you
 figured out what is the problem with Mandrake Control Center, I can
 set up my internet connection using drakeconnect but not through the
 control center. Anyhow, this looks like 9.0 will be a real windows
 breaker watch out for falling glass.

I haven't had any of the problems, specially with MCC, that a few of
y'all have. Haven't seen complaints on the cooker list either
so I dunno. I regularly do a few edits to fstab (for windoze mount
points), so that's NBFD for me, but my floppy, cd drives worked just
fine with the default 9.0beta fstab lines.

/dev/hdb7 / reiserfs notail 1 1
/dev/hdb5 /boot ext3 defaults 1 2
/dev/hda1 /c vfat iocharset=iso8859-1,umask=0,codepage=850 0 0
/dev/hda5 /d vfat iocharset=iso8859-1,umask=0,codepage=850 0 0
none /dev/pts devpts mode=0620 0 0
none /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0
none /mnt/cdrom supermount
dev=/dev/hdc,fs=iso9660,ro,--,iocharset=iso8859-1 0 0
none /mnt/cdrom2 supermount
dev=/dev/scd0,fs=iso9660,ro,--,iocharset=iso8859-1 0 0
none /mnt/floppy supermount
dev=/dev/fd0,fs=supermount,--,auto,iocharset=iso8859
-1,umask=0,sync,codepage=850 0 0
/dev/hdb6 /mnt/hd reiserfs notail 1 2
none /proc proc defaults 0 0
/dev/hdb1 swap swap defaults 0 0

  everything works fine here.

Tho I'm waitin on beta2 CD's in the mail, I've got beta1 fairly
current with cooker the new rpmdrake sux ;( Too much
functionality removed in order to dumb it down .. yuck. Believe after
a fresh install of beta2, I'll try'n move the 'old' rpmdrake back in.

This had been so for several months. 700mb cdr's are needed now.
CD1 is 701, CD2 is 700, CD3 is 498mb. I don't know what the 9.0beta 2
iso's are, I don't have 'em yet (released today). FWIW, the cd1.iso had
no problem burnin, even tho it strains the 700 mb cdr limit.

  I'll take this opportunity to once again encourage that lurkin on the
cooker ML, or at least checking the archive is a very good idea if
you're gonna mess with cooker. There was some discussion about going to
700mb CD's, search the archive for the reasons. I'd also add that 9.0,
even the early June alpha release, is better than 8.2 with a KDE 3.x
upgrade IME.

that extra 150 MB of packages.. :o)
