Re: [newbie] cvs client
Found it! Thanks to your hint I checked the Cervisa web page and found that it is included in the kdesdk package. That's why I did't find it with a simple search within rpmdrake. thanks again, raffaele [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: On Tue, 2002-12-24 at 18:13, Raffaele Belardi wrote: If you can't find Cervisia in your KDE, you can download it and install it either from source or RPM... [newbie] cvs client
MDK8.2 included a KDE-based cvs client called Cervisia, which had some bugs but was not bad. It seems that MDK9.0 does not include it anymore (I wonder why), so I'm looking for an alternative. Basically I need to be able to tag directories and to checkout a tagged version - all the rest can be done within Emacs. Also, I'd like to get the program from the MDK download edition, to keep intallation simple. Not necessarily KDE-based - I'm using IceWM. I tried a search with the keyword 'cvs' in rpmdrake, but did not come up with anything useful. Any suggestion? thanks, raffaele Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? [newbie] CVS
There is an application that I am after (jpilot) the newest version and the web site says to use CVS. What do I have to do before using CVS? Do I have to have all the subdirectories I see on the web page with the files from each? And there was something about downloading a snapshot. Would that be easier? Then again, I didn't see the snapshot. I write scripts at work all day. I work in awk, sed, and perl. Manipulating data mostly. I understand how computers work, but I have never been exposed to CVS. Any help would be appreciated. Dan B Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? Go to http://www.mandrakestore.com
Re: [newbie] CVS
Are you sure you absolutely have to have the _newest_ version? How about one which is compiled and packaged as an rpm, from your distribution disks or the net? It would make life a hell of a lot easier for you. I'm not saying don't learn about cvs, just first things first. .9 works pretty well though. remember, 0. releases run about the same as MS version 1.0's. ;-) On Saturday 16 March 2002 11:03, Dan Butler opened a hailing frequency and transmitted: Unfortunately. [newbie] CVS and SSH
I am trying to set up a CVS server using SSH as defined by http://www.wincvs.org/ssh.html and I use the version of SSH as described by the instructions. Now, I set up my ssh keys as described by using name@server, etc. Now, when I finalize the instructions and try to log on without a password, I still get an error. I check the logs and it says the server is refusing the keys. Anyone know anything about this problem? Do I need to configure my server a certain way? Because I am going to do only local uploads / downloads to this server, I have the following key sequencing: ssh-keygen -C paulz@athena -f ./.ssh/identity Is this valid? [newbie] CVS
I know enough Linux to do light system administration, but my biggest newbie thing is cvs, what is it? why is it? and how can it benefit me the most if i want to start writing freeware for the Linux community? -- Linux Cat
Re: [newbie] CVS
In simple language, CVS is where you keep your code when lots of people are working on it at the same time. When one person makes changes to the code, he/she submits them to the cvs repository so everyone else can see them/modify them. Obviously, this helps open source by making it easier for many people, spread out over a large area to work together. BTW, cvs isn't the only thing out there, it's just the most popular in the open source community.
