I always find that I get the best download speeds from mirrors that are 
located in a area of the world where it is the middle of the night.  For 
instance,  if I am in the GMT -5 (New York) timezone, I get the best speed 
from the European mirrors in the evening, and the US west coast mirrors in 
the morning.

[newbie] Faster mirrors?

I'm quite unimpressed with the speed I'm getting from the mirrors for Mandrake 
10.0 Official via FTP.  Anybody know of a particularly good mirror?  Or a 
bittorrent/jigbo download like there is for Debian?  I tried to download 10 
earlier with no success (20KB/s download didn't cut it for me), and I'm now 
downloading the testing version of Debian to tinker with instead (Gettin' my 
fulll bandwidth from them, via FTP too).
More of a comment than a question, but yeah.

Once you find a site that works well, use it for all the sources that it can 
handle. you will be happiest that way.
