RE: [newbie] HOW TO STOP XSERVER FROM LOADING

As I decided for an graphical login when I installed Mandrake, the XServer is loaded before you can login. But the Server doesn't start anymore, maybe because the root-partition is full. The server more or less hangs until i press Ctrl-Alt-Del. How can I stop the loading of the graphical login, so that I can delete some files from the root-partition in textmode? MfG Gunther

MfG Gunther you need to edit /etc/inittab look for the line id:5:initdefault: and change it to id:3:initdefault: Sorry, I misunderstood your question. I didn't realize you just wanted to temporarily disable the graphical logon. My solution is more of a permanent one. If the xserver crashed, you can also try typing Ctrl-Alt-F1,F2,F3 to get another console where you can log in and kill the xserver.
