Re: [newbie] How to Dial up
What does your /etc/resolv.conf look like? It should have the name of your isp and the ip addresses of their nameservers. Mine has three lines: search nwrain.com nameserver 205.134.220.38 nameserver 205.134.220.37 nwrain.com is my isp. The next two lines are the primary and secondary nameservers. Also, set the permission on /etc/resolv.conf to 644. On Thu, 06 Jan 2000, you wrote: I don't why but it still does not work. I tryed that it came up with "bash: /etc/resolv.conf: Permission denied" not to sure why I am the main user. You have to be "root" to edit /etc/resolv.conf. Although why you'd want to have a blank /etc/resolv.conf I'm not sure. If you've got correct information in your /etc/resolv.conf file, KPPP will use it, from what I'm told. I personally don't use KPPP since I have an ISDN router. :-) John
