click File-Burn Image (this might be Create Image, or even just Image,
but it's something like that). Then it opens a find file dialog and you
just select your image.nrg. It then gives you some options that don't

I'm a little surprised at this - certainly you don't have to in Nero 5.
What seems to cause most problems, though, is that it seems 'common
sense' to choose the option to create a bootable drive. It's the wrong
choice. The 'Burn an image' choice is the right one, as you said. The
files are re-created including those needed to boot.

RE: [newbie] How to create a cd from ISO file

2002-05-27 Thread Franki

are you doing it from windoze or linux?

if its windows using Easy CD creator or Nero, both should offer you the
option of making the CD's containing files from the iso or the actual ISO
itself, choose the former obviously...

..wow, i didn't know that nrg files were exactly like ISOs..
theoretically that nrg stuff is because NERO uses it's own
proprietary format for raw copies of a CD. kind of
you got a NRG file, you must use NERO to burn it because no
other program will
but this 'rename to iso and go' beats the whole purpose

or if you're already running linux
   cdrecord -v -eject speed=8 dev=0,0' /path/to/CD.iso

Run 'cdrecord -scanbus' to get the correct dev= for your burner. I
don't recommend you burn any faster than 8x, no matter how fast your
CD-RW is rated.

One command does it:

cdrecord -eject speed=s dev=x,y,z filename.iso

where you'll have to replace the speed and device parameters with your
setup.

You can get the device parameters from Information | SCSI in the Control
Centre; ,x,y,z is referred to as Channel, Id, Lun, and I'd expect
all to be zero. My command is:

cdrecord -v -eject speed=32 dev=0,0,0 filename.iso
