That was done with javascript. I saw it with mozilla, but not konqueror. I just dont believe that it is a big deal for Konqueror to handle. Just seems I dont get the right setting on. Or I have something wrong. And I have something totally wrong with fonts, as only KDE looks nice, galeon and mozilla fonts are just jäki. But thats another case to get solved. There's something very odd about the whole subject. I appear to have exactly the opposite of you - javascript sites work fine in Konqueror but not in Mozilla or Galeon - or at least some forms of javascript. Similarly with the fonts problem - most of the time I get kde-type font display, but sometimes get the ugly gnome-type display - even in the same circumstances, like, for instance, opening File Manager SuperUser. I'm beginning to think that it is a 'feature' and that we are all looking for work-arounds that may be specific to our own particular blend of install/applications. The fonts that were being displayed were ugly, not the nice fonts I have in user mode, so I decided to try changing the font settings while in SU mode. That's what has to be done. The font settings were default in SU mode! They require separate adjustment. After I set the fonts for Konq File Manager while SU, things look a lot better now. :-) HTH for one of your points. I personally don't use the su mode that often, being somewhat paranoid about it. The ugly fonts could be a reminder to those who are less paranoid about su though. Maybe the font color should be red, or some color other than black? Best regards. --Angus Let us not look back in anger or forward in fear, but around in awareness.--James Thurber *** *Reg. Now I have my nice readable fonts, but the red background is a vivid reminder of just where I am. (not that I'm apt to forget 8-|) One could also use a background image for a reminder. These settings only affect File Manager SuperUser. FWIW, as a suggestion. Regards. --Angus Let us not look back in anger or forward in fear, but around in awareness.--James Thurber *** *Reg. [newbie] Konqueror 2.2.1 Javascript problems
I'm using the Konqueror web browser from the Mandrake 8.1 installation (KDE 2.2.1) and have several sites on the WWW that won't work when the Javascript option in Konqueror is on. One of those is my bank from which I do my on-line bill paying. Netscape works OK on those sites but I'd like to fix Konqueror -- if a fix is available. Is it? Thanks! Mike (Sorry if this re-send is a duplicate. I sent it first 32 hours ago and it has yet to appear on the list. I think I misaddressed the first send.) I downloaded Sun's jre-1.3.1 Java Runtime Environment script and opened it in my /home/dennis directory then in Konquerorconfigure konquerorbrowser at the bottom where it typically just shows java I click on the browse button and navigate to the location in my home directory and click there to link it to the konqueror browser. This way if I do an update or anything like that I still have the file cause I don't reformat or overwrite /home. Just my way of doing it but it works. HTH Dennis M.
