Aaron,

The file that contains the path isn't the ~/.bashrc .. it's the
~/.bash_profile file. Add the path to the java executable, and you
should be all set.

Miark,

Have you checked to make sure that Kaffe wasn't installed as well, and
that in your ~/.bash_profile, you have the path to your j2re java
executable? I had a similar problem to this, and for me, it turned out
to be Kaffe. As soon as I uninstalled Kaffe, I was able to install
Limewire. Let me know if you get it working. I have another problem
with Limewire that I am unable to figure out.

In order to get LimeWireOther to work follow these steps

Download Sun's latests JRE
Install Sun's JRE
Get LimeWireOther
Run /usr/java/jre1.31/bin/java -classpath LimeWireOther.zip install

This is assuming you accepted all the default paths in the JRE

That should do it!

[newbie] LimeWire Installation

2001-06-11 Thread Jose

I am running Mandrake 8.0 and was having problems installing LimeWire. I
found some instructions that enabled me to finally install and run
LimeWire.

First got to http://java.sun.com and download the Java Runtime Enviroment
1.3.1 for Linux. Then get LimeWireOther.zip from http://www.limewire.com/
finally as root run
/usr/java/jre1.3.1/bin/java -classpath LimewireOther.zip install
then just run the binary as /home/your_directory/LimeWire/LimeWire

It worked for me and hopefully for everyone else.
