I had my mouse configed for the Logitech mouse, when I got the M$ mouse, I plueed it in and didn't change anything. Very basic mouse stuff only though What is interesting is that M$ Win 2k doesn'r support all M$ mice... :-) MarkP

Re: [newbie] Mouseconfig - MS Intellimouse (PS/2)
I also have a M$ Intellimouse (PS/2) perhaps it would have been better deemed a DumbAmouse (PS/2) type. As I think you are both very lucky to have had it work under M$. I bought it new with my win98 system and had this same problem using it under M$. I had to revert to a 20 year old two button mouse in order to get any use out of my M$ system, when I installed Linux I selected the generic PS/2 mouse configurations in the Mandrake install as I luckily had read here of others having this problem and thought I would do my self a favor by skipping over my desire for two buttons and a wheel. b/web Wade At 12:07 AM 5/5/00 -0500, you wrote: On Thu, 04 May 2000, you wrote: Why is it that when I select MS Intellimouse (PS/2) from the list in Mouseconfig it will not work correctly in X? Re: [newbie] Mouseconfig - MS Intellimouse (PS/2)
Thanks Aaron for posting this. I am using the beta of MDK 7.1 and I also had the same problem with my MS Intellimouse . The only way that I could use the wheel mouse was to open a console as root and type 'imwheel' and then the process would start. If I closed the window then the wheel would stop. I'm subscribing to the Cooker lists and read that " 'imwheel' starts automatically with X ." when I asked for a possible workaround for the problem I was pleasantly ignored or overlooked. I tried your workaround and it works great --THANKS! Re: [newbie] Mouseconfig - MS Intellimouse (PS/2)
I tried imwheel but it does not work., or at least not for me. I did the old 'whereis' command, cd to the location /u sr/bin I think, and gave the command 'imwheel' it came up that it had already been started (I was using xterm at the time) but it didn't work. Not that it bothers me. If I wanted a M$ look-a-like I would not have deleted my DOS partition. As I am starting to realize, the fun lies in what you can not do! -- Andrew Blackburn England.
