A gui server wouldn't really make sense (other than maybe a web-based
control interface) -- are you needing a gui-based ftp client? There are
some, like gftp and kde's browser.

Thats OK, you can do that too - its just ProFTPd is more secure. But I
don't know if that comes with 8.0...I know it did with 7.2 (which Im
running...and I actually have WuFTP going right now). Wu is real
straightforward...just read your readmes, and you'll be fine.

Either one perhaps lacks security features, whether it be pro ftpd or
wu-ftpd. Is there such a thing as a secure ftp server? Maybe not. The
impetus from many sysadmins seems to be to drop ftp altogether and switch
to secure ssh-based connections, such as scp.
