I'm
seeing the same thing you are (file names are not listed when selecting
the
folder that contains the images you want to display). I remember this
happening on 9.2 also but, since they're displaying in the slide show, I
chose to ignore the fact. Perhaps the fact that I wanted to use all of
the
images in the folder, and didn't need to select individual images made
things
much simpler for me? All of my images are in a sub-sub folder under my
home
 directory.

I intended to select all also, although I do need to fix some of them.
Thats for later.
Sounds like the word is *BUG* for both of us. There are several others who
have reported problems with screensavers also. When my screensaver runs it
only displays the ones originaly shown blank, tux, mkd slide show(Toys)
when random was secected.

I saw the same three at first, but after doing all the updates they
all appeared correctly.

In the event that you havent been following this thread. All of the
screensavers showed up for me as well though I could not tie their
appearance to an update. I believe that something changed because I was
attempting to resolve the problem maybe something I did fixed the -not
showing up problem(wish I knew what it was). However just because they show
up dosent mean that they can be used. My post from several days ago
deliniated as precisely as I could what was wrong and while the screensaver
that I wanted 'slide show' could not be configured to display good images(
which have been used with several screensavers in different disto's. RH,
Debian, and Gentoo to name some. ) Please refer to attached for the
original. Any Ideas are welcome.

I have a problem the last time I brought this question up I had 4
screensavers listed in KDE control center. This morning I was chasing a
different problem and was in the following directory with konq:
/usr/share/applnk/settings/LookNFeel
which had an item 'screensavers.desktop' which of course I clicked on. Up
popped a configuration panel like the one in control center and it listed a
hole bunch of screensavers, not to look a gift horse etc. I clicked on
'slide show' and could not find any images. I went to control center and
the screensavers had the same list, so I tried again to configure 'slide
show' and could not get any images.

In case you are thinking I should load some images.
ls -la /
drwxr-xr-x 2 root users size date/time screensavers
cd screensavers
ls -la *
-rwxr-xr-x hoyt users size date name
there are 122 listed.

Oh yes 'users' returns hoyt

Would someone explain this to me, please?

I'm at a loss to explain this, unless it concerns image format. My
9.2 box is using the slideshow screensaver with a directory of images
of Istanbul. They are home photos, saved as .jpgs.

So are mine 122 .jpeg's. I forget what size they are but I think they are
likely 800x600. Formatted by gimp.

I was under the impression that after the above I showed the screensavers
menu with permissions etc. The problem is that while I know how to add
images to 'slide show' and I created the images with 'gimp' and I believe
they are correctly permissioned. I cant get the listing when sitting in
directory /screensavers in the setup portion of 'slide show' IE the listing
is blank(empty, nonexistant, bare, not there). Maybe they should be in
/home but they are in /screensavers and I doubt moving them would help.

Dang. Since I installed 10rc1, I'm down to two screensaver choices in the
configuration, too. I'll let you know if I get on top of the situation.
