I have a GF4Ti4600 and have managed to get xine to output to My Samsung TV
via the svideo connection. I haven't had time to play with the settings
any further
but if you like I can send you a copy of the XF86Config-4 file that
allows me to
watch DVDs from my mdk box on the widescreen tv. May need a little work but
I'm enjoying watching my dvd collection thru nix too much to play with
the settings
any more at the moment.

Should I not be able to start playback in X from my comp and see it on
the TV too?
Thanks!

Try putting nvtv on desktop and when your've got mplayer displaying run
nvtv and select an output mode and it should pump the picture out via
your tvout.

Will send you the file off list. think it originally came form sourceforge.

K, got it, thanks.

I tried compiling it, but it needs the pci library, which I cannot find.

I was able to get it via urpmi (contrib), but it is version 0.4.3. When
I select TV on, my screen goes black and I have to do a power down,
the machine will simply not respond.

By output mode, do you mean PAL, etc.?

One funny thing, when I run yanc, I select:

enable Twinview (duh)

first monitor automatic

second monitor TV

TV out format S-Video

TV Standard NTSC

Then I reboot as it suggests, but when I run yanc again, the settings
look like they have returned to default, though my XF86Config looks like
it has been altered a *bit*:

Section Device
Identifier device1
VendorName NVidia
BoardName NVIDIA GeForce4 (generic)
Driver nvidia
Option DPMS
Option NvAGP 1
Option CursorShadow 1
Option NoLogo 1
Option DigitalVibrance 0
Option TwinView 1
Option SecondMonitorHorizSync 30-50
Option SecondMonitorVertRefresh 60
Option TwinViewOrientation Clone
Option TVStandard NTSC-M
Option MetaModes [EMAIL PROTECTED],[EMAIL PROTECTED]
EndSection

Section Screen
Identifier screen1
Device device1
Monitor monitor1
DefaultColorDepth 24

Subsection Display
Depth 8
Modes 1280x960 1152x864 1024x768 800x600 640x480
EndSubsection

In nvtv, I select NTSC for Mode, Setting is Dualview, Config
Connecor is S-VHS, but in Heads, TV does not appear to be available,
only Monitor for both heads, tho in Ports Monitor and TV are shown
as selected.

Thanks for the assistance!

oops! ok, no need to reboot, F2 will bring back my X display properly,
heh, whew!

That would be nice if I could see an example, yanc does not appear to be
helping much. I am not watching DVDs tho, they are, um, you know,
perfectly legal divx rips of DVDs that I own, wink wink, it's just that
my sys is too slow to play DVDs, eh? ;-)

Thanks!

From my understanding of how this works, yes. After your XF86Config is
correct, then anything that you see on your monitor you should also see
on the TV out. At this point anything you play with mplayer you should
see on your tv.

Let me know if you find out otherwise as I'm about to get an nVidia card
for the same use.

Michael
