(Sorry for the incorrect subject on my last post in the thread) I hate to be the one to break this to you but the S3 Savage card Does Not have DRI support in XFree. This means that all GL apps are software rendered. For some this is fine but when play a game demo such as Descent you need DRI. You can check this site for more info http://www.probo.com/timr/savage40.html Were I in your position and it was within my budget I would look at replacing the video card. The ATI Xpert2000 is a good card (32MB Rage 128) and if you do not mind OEM you can find it online for as low as $25. Charles Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? Use Mandrake's Doc site to learn how to do so. It's incredibly easy, and if I can do it anyone can ;) I have the Nvidia drivers and get the same error message as Stojs. libGL.so seems to be available in some devel packages, so I my try that. (Thus the error) One solution would be to install MESA, a 3d graphics library that is software based and should be on you distro CDs. Another solution is to go to your video cards manufacturer's web site and see if they provide drivers for your card (for linux of course) that support openGL. You should only install MESA or the manufacturer's drivers and not both as a conflict and more errors usually result. --- - Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? Stojs wrote: I did not have to be root to install. But there is another problem. the readme says run descent3_demo to start the game. I tried clicking it but nothing happens. Do I have to run it from a terminal or something? As always, thanks in advance, Stojs I always ran it from a terminal. I used: ./descentx (whatever filename) That should do it! ;-) -- /\ DarkLord \/ Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? Go to http://www.mandrakestore.com
