[newbie] test... ignore as OT, is list working?

2002-10-31 Thread ET
I am now the one who is not recieving anything from any mandrake list, and i
know Earthlink has been screwing with the mailservers, I am wondering if this
gets thru, or has e-link decided that Mandrake is a spammer and is filtering
them. if anyone on e-link sees this and will e-mail me off list to let me
know. thanks

I've received a few Mandrake (newbie and expert) messages this morning, but
way below the usual flood. Based on past history, I'm inclined to think that
the problem is at Mandrake. Several listers have made comments over the past
few days that they were missing some postings; perhaps that problem has
gotten worse. And, IIRC, there was a total blackout back in early September
that lasted a day or two.

Ed Carroll,

I was definitely one of those posters complaining. I have two posts in my
'Sent Items' box that asked for someone to reply to me to let me know that I
was the only one not getting the listserv posts. For me, I have been out of
communication with the listserv since noon of yesterday.

Now I have a small taste of what it must be like to be blind! -)

Thank the Penguin God for fixing the listserv...

Doesn't always seem to put the msgs at the bottom of the trash bin..but
maybe I have to sort them.

As an aside, it seems S-C doesn't allow a click to focus for the
windows. IE, if i'm composing an email, if my mouse goes to the
background where the emails sit in another window I can accidentally hit
the delete key or something the msg goes to trash. Iow, sylpheed
doesn't follow your windowmanagers perference if its set to Click to

Perhaps your trash folder is set to thread view. Click on view and see
if there's a check-mark next to thread view. Get rid of it if that's the
case.

Anyone know if there *is* an UNDO or Undelete function!? Cause if there
is I have yet to find it!

Femme,

heavens! why didn't ya ask? the delete key for Sylpheed is one of two.

1) [L-CTRL+D]
2) [R-CTRL+DEL]

Either one of those will get it done nicely in Sylpheed. Personally I'm
really enjoying Mozilla Messenger. Especially now more then ever since
it's got integrated Mime/PGP support. That rocks. And Pine is the end
all/be all for console clients. There just isn't anything else for Console.

 Look at this number sequence:

 512k
 1m
 4m
 8m
 32m

see how quickly it goes up? They are the memory requirements for windows.
dos
would word with 512k. windows 3.11 needed 4 meg. windows 95 needed 8 meg.
Windows 98 needed 32Meg. Whistler will need so much people will have to

 more.

 And look at processers:

 dos : 8086
 win3.11 : 80286
 win95 : 80386
 win98 : unknown
 win me : 166MHz

thats enough that I managed to fty my laptop processor when I tried to
overclock it and run windows me. It cost £25 for a new pentium 166.
