[newbie] virtual desktop and riva128 probs
Hello, I got a PIII-500, 96M RAM, and a RIVA128. First off, how do I get rid of the virtual desktop option? You know, when you can have windows that overlap the edge of your screen. I remember an option when I installed it in the Xwin configuration part, but I can't find it in any of the configuration options now. Will I have to reload just to get rid of it?.blarg... Secondly, I am having problems with switching resolutions. I'm set right now at 32 bit color, 640x480, with the monitor set to whatever the closest one is. This setup works fine for now, but eats up desktop space. I've tried switching the monitor settings but it doesn't matter, no dice. Also, how 'bout changing the refresh rate?I can tell mine needs to be bumped up, but can't figure out how Thanks in advance, Mario

RE: [newbie] virtual desktop and riva128 probs
What are you running, KDE? Enlightenment? Each one has different places to disable the virtual desktop settings. As far as the monitor goes, run Xconfigurator from a terminal and you should be able to set things up there. Make sure you manually pick your resolution and color settings though. I have it done it lately but I know it always defaulted to something that I didn't want. Hope this helps. Re: [newbie] virtual desktop and riva128 probs
In Gnome Control Centre, Sawfish Window Manager, Appearance. You can set the "columns and rows" to 1 and 1, and set the workspace to 1. on the Edge Flipping tab de-select the "Select next desktop when the pointer hits screen edge." Hope this helps! --Greg - Original Message - From: "Austin L. Denyer" [EMAIL PROTECTED] So how do you disable the virtual desktop setting in Sawfish and Gnome? Draxconf - Change X Resolution. The rest is self-explanatory. Regards, Ozz. __ Vous avez un site perso ? 2 millions de francs à gagner sur i(france) ! Webmasters : ZE CONCOURS ! http://www.ifrance.com/_reloc/concours.emailif
