Not for me to decide, at all. But I would say that newbies
often don't find files like this until later, and help files
don't come into play if they haven't managed to start the
program. So, if you wouldn't mind doing a write-up on this,
I think it would help. Particularly if, having talked them
through what's needed you also point them at how to find the
 relevant docs.

OK Anne - I'll try do write a twiki on Star Office, but it will
have to wait a litte - to much work at the moment, you know.

BTW : I already discovered an error in my guidance above :

The command is - of course - *./setup -net* as root and
*./setup* as user. (Because *setup* is not in the path, but
issued from the current directory).

If you have run it first as root it should have set up a user
directory for you. OTOH, if something you have done has foobarred
that, it will give you headaches, so I suggest that you look for the
hidden file .openoffice and rename it .ooOld, or similar, then try to
start up again as a user. It should create a new one for you.

[newbie] What did I do wrong with StarOffice 6

2003-05-27 Thread Olli Mäntyranta
Hi!

I have a Mdk9.0 installed, and while installing the system I also installed
the StarOffice6 .
When I try to launch, let's say 'swriter' in /usr/lib/staroffice/programs ,
otherwise than root, it just doesn't start. If I write the command in shell,
I am told about asegmentation fault.

What should I do to make all users being able to use StarOffice?

Thanks in advance,
OllimaX!

When installing SO you have to enable it's networking

Then - if everything goes OK, back out of root (close all
