It operates pretty much the same.  Most MAC hardware is supported because 
there is less of it, and there are some webcams and scanners and modems that 
don't work under PC.

hmmm,,, I think the answer to both questions is yes.
yes it will look a lot the same and behave the same and you will both have 
home folders and have to be root to install programs and will have to deal 
with MSEC.
And, yes, in fact no two install on the same machine come out exactly the same 
way since there are SO damn many choices to make and customize, so it matters 
less weither you are using a g4 mac or a p4 intel, than it does if you do 
expert or recomended install. HTH

Only to the extent that your Mac CDs are going to be Mandrake 8.2 while hers 
will be 9.0 and therefore some of the features will be enhanced, and there 
will be newer applications. Otherwose it will be just the same.

One of the strengths of Linux is that it can be compiled on many different 
hardware platforms.

The upcoming 9.1 release will be available for i586 and PowerPC
You can try out a Beta version of them both if you have a broadband data 
connection
