KWord will import PDF files. It does a fairly nice job of it, but
if the file is very large, import one page at a time for the best
results. Also, read the man page (and other documentation) for xpdf
-- it allows for selecting blocks of text from PDF files. It also
comes with a number of utilities for extracting the pieces of PDF
files (e.g., fonts and graphics, in particular). I use its
pdfimages for extracting the graphics, and it does a great job.

Hi All
I want to copy from pdf files ... i recall that in Abode Acrobat I could do
this sometimes but with KGhostView I cannot at all. Are there and pdf
programs out there that let me copy and paste into other formats or is there
a way to save as into another format?

I see that I can download a linux version of acrobat but if i can get around
that it would be nice.

recognise one that is useful)

gcc4.0-doc-pdf
glibc-doc-pdf

libcpdf2-static-devel
libpdf1

pdftk
pdftohtml
php-pdf
ppdfilt

When I used SuSE 9.1, it installed a package called pdf2html. It's a
command line utility with batch converstion. It's very good. See if it's
available on urpmi.

You can find acroread at:

Martin,

You have Acrobat Reader for Linux. Do:

urpmi acroread

After you have installed that, you can copy text (only text, as far as
I know) from there to other formats.

This seems to be the best "non-Adobe" solution.

Adobe has release a brand new beta version of their pdf editor. I dont have a
link but they have a linux version too for the first time.
