Re: [newbie] configuring LILO.
make it /dev/hda1 or /dev/hda? Op maandag 15 januari 2001 18:57, schreef u: Klilo keeps telling me my Hd is too big for it to reconfigure the boot sequence, and although I've edited lilo.conf I still can't get my machine to boot into the win partition by default, lilo seems to be ignoring the edit I've done. Have I missed something? Here's the first bit of lilo.conf: boot = /dev/hda map = /boot/map timeout = 50 prompt message = /boot/message default = linux That last line should read whatever you've name your Windows partition in /etc/fstab. If you've done that, it's still not working, try editing the file again, but this time, as root, run: # /sbin/lilo That, instead of using klilo, should do it. .. and so I thought too. Unfortunatly I'm getting the same error message that I got from lilo about the HDD being too big. Any other ideas? -- Luk Vermeylen Putse Baan 84 2040 Antwerpen 4 03/295.00.12 [EMAIL PROTECTED] linux counter: #186539

This time, all you need is bravery and a computer system to try this out on. We are finishing testing protocols which will lead you through the testing steps; we have software that phones home with your tester number and your hardware configuration, and we are building a web site to post results and opinions. For the first time, we are looking for more than bugs to fix. We are looking for ratings of functionality that we can share with the community, and with the developers and maintainers of the packages, even those we do not do ourselves. To enroll, just email me. Tell me whether you have a fast connection and if not, send a postal address. Oh, and make sure you are able to dedicate a little time the month of Valentine's Day. Well the pay isn't great ($0) but you do get my personal assistance via email to configure your computer to the next release. Re: [newbie] Realplayer 8 is now installed!
Op maandag 01 januari 2001 20:57, schreef u: Okay, I finally got it. Here is what I had to do (in case someone else runs into this same problem): As su/root: rpm -e RealPlayer (even though it was "expired") (there is a deps issue with a Realplayer rnp? RPM as well) Set the file below to be executeable. ../rp8_linux20_libc6_i386_cs1.bin (I d/l'ed this from Vics ftp site) follow installation prompts After its installed, do the same for your normal user account Add /usr/local/RealPlayer8 to my $path in /home/darklord/.bash_profile Delete the Realplayer G2 .kde link. Otherwise, everytime I did a "startx" I got a couldn't find mime type error. (I started to use the menu editor but it said it was not installed?) Thats it! I can once again play *.RM files locally as well as access them from web sites. Thanks to Kevin, Mepth, Paul, and Vic! ;-) You can also install the mime types and plugins by executing the 2 .sh files in the /usr/local/Realplayer dir type sh mimeinstall.sh sh pluginstall.sh and restart your graphic shell -- Luk Vermeylen Putse Baan 84 2040 Antwerpen 4 03/295.00.12 [EMAIL PROTECTED]
