[Nighthawk Lovers] Grab Bar

2009-04-05 Thread shadowfarside

Is it possible at all to put a grab bar or sissy bar on CB 450
Nighthawk Models (mine is a 1985) without having to manufacture ones?
I tried a 1983 grab bar for a 650 and it didn't work (which I am
willing to sell for $20 +shipping). I was even thinking of mounting it
to the seat somehow, but it would ride weird on the rear fender.

[Nighthawk Lovers] Looking for speedo and tacho casings for 1997 Nighthawk 750.

2009-04-05 Thread PaddyK

Hi everyone, I am new to the group and hoping you can help me finding
some parts for my 1997 Honda
Nighthawk.
Having an American model bike and living in Australia,as you can
appreciate information on buying parts is very
limited,so I thought I would try this medium for help.
I purchased the bike from ebay here in Australia as the original owner
had moved here to work and brought the
bike with him.He was returning back home and decided to sell his bike.
I absolutely love it ,as this model was never offered for sale in
Australia.
I am looking for speedo and tacho casings (plastic chrome) to replace
the originals and would appreciate any
help on where I could find some new or good condition secondhand ones.
Thanks

Left hand side covers are relatively inexpensive on ebay. Right hand

I have 2 acres, a 5,000 S.F. shop, and 3 sheds. One shed is devoted to storing
some old bikes and parts. Regular Toys R Us. Your taste in cars is impeccable,
that's why you can't find what you want. I had '64 Buick Wildcat once but it
just needed too much work for me so I sold that one. I always wanted either a
'67 or '68 Camaro myself. The 1st muscle car I drove was a '67 Camaro 3 speed
327. I launched it off the end of our street and skidded it sideways in two
lanes. Lucky there were no cars coming. I just had no idea! That was so much
fun that I decided that I wanted a car like that. I seemed to have gotten every
other car BUT that one sor far...LOL! HotrodMamma

Sounds nice. I just liked the '67 because of the slant back and neat
interior. four bucket seats, full length console... I looked for one for a
couple of years and only found 318 models. I wanted a 383 with all options. I
must have strange tastes in cars; '62 Vette, '68 '72 Cameros, '67 Charger,
'67 2+2 Mustangs, '61 Biscane 2 drs... Buick GS, '64 GTO, Years ago I sold my
'65 Mercury Monterey convertible. Somebody else cruises with it now. One of the
guys at work has a thing for Oldsmobiles. I can't imagine where you keep all
your stuff, I ran out of room long time ago. No space anymore for anything but
the bikes. Three of those is about one too many. My garage has never had a car
in it. There is one of those Murphy's laws that states that the amount of
stuff will expand to fit the space alloted

  73 Custom Charger...California special. 43,000 original miles on a
400 slapstick automatic. Functional back windows instead of the louvered ones
that all other 73's had. Magnum wheels, highback buckets, the works. A doctor
owned it, then a guy who brought it to Idaho and had it 3 months and then me. I
always wanted a '68 myself.

I have a '70 Super Bee tucked away...383 slapstick auto.
SHHH...don't tell! I bought a '72 Pontiac Tempest and it ended up having a 442
under the hood. I went out to the desert to buy a '64 El Camino and that
Tempest was next to it. The fella said $200.00 for the El Camino (no motor) and
for $300.00 for the Pontiacyou can drive that one home. He told me that it had

[Nighthawk Lovers] Re: Looking for speedo and tacho casings for 1997 Nighthawk 750.

2009-04-05 Thread Dennis

A BSA. Cool. That was my first MC in about 1965. In those days, I think
the British bikes were made of whatever pot metal they could find. I
remember, I had to replace my foot shift lever every month of so because it
would strip on the shaft splines.

Later, when I switched over to Japanese bikes and I had to learn that the
shift and rear brakes were on opposite sides, I think there was about week
or so when I had a very short life expectancy until I got the new layout
into my brain properly.

Cheers!

drumhillcycle.com has the gauge set for $325 but the casings alone might be
hard to find. Do a used motorcycle parts search and try your luck.

[Nighthawk Lovers] Re: Honda CB250 Clutch not Disengaging

I have a '92 CB250, I noticed the other day that it was extremely hard
to get into neutral, so i took a look at the clutch cable to see if it
was adjusted wrong. In fact the only time I am able to get into
neutral is when the motor is off. I checked to see if the clutch was
working properly by raising the rear wheel and putting it into first
with the clutch in. No go. Tire spins as well with the clutch in as it
does out. I took the cable completely off and just pulled the rod up
till it stopped with the same result. So it's not the cable.

I am not familiar with tranny stuff so please help me out here. I am
an aircraft mech, so I like to think I have some mechanical
understanding... Any help much appreciated, gracias!
