Got the OEM solenoid and guess what! It slid right in perfect! Take a paper clip and straighten it out and then smash down one end flat with hammer. Now you have a tool to remove the wires from the plug. Re: [Nighthawk Lovers] Re: Dead 700S
Sure, here is a close up of the solenoid part of the 83-85 CB650 wiring diagram I reverse engineered from Mr Clymer, however I must say that the drawing i was working off of was a bit obscured and I think there is a link that connects the Red wire to the main fuse as well. I say this since the Red wire is the +12v feed going to the ignition switch. It most likely is the same for the 700S which I will eventually complete converting into a Visio as well. Re: [Nighthawk Lovers] Re: Dead 700S
There is wiring inside the solenoid for the fuse. Sometimes that can burn up. Also if you bought one of the Chinese solenoids off eBay you may have to swap the wires that plug into it. As they don't always match despite being sold as something that is a direct fit. It is easy enough to figure out the pin outs with a multimeter. Re: [Nighthawk Lovers] Re: Dead 700S
I didn't answer your question fully. Two of the wires go to the fuse. One for battery + the other to the ignition switch. The other wires are for the relay that operates the starter. So if that fuse or the solenoid fail all power is lost except for the main feed for the starter. So you can bridge the solenoid posts and make it crank despite all other power being dead. If you have no power at all then it would have to be 1st the main fuse or the solenoid its self, then ignition switch. Then fuse panel. That is the electrical path. A sticking ignition switch will cause this behavior too. You really need a multimeter and the wiring diagram to diagnose this. -Kyle On Sun, Nov 1, 2015 at 9:27 AM, Tommy Hillwrote: > Thanks.
