Swing past Maryland on your way up north and I'll buy you lunch. Maybe go
for a diversion and ride my bikes.

When you get to the tall gambling casino past the swamp, turn R south on Rt 997
which is Chrome Ave. Straight shot to US 1 just past Homestead.

Paul, there will be lots of pictures.

Javier, be forewarned. With Florida out of the way, Maine will be next up.

2015-11-13 Thread Tommy Hill
Tamiami Trail is cool. I bought my Miami bike in Naples and came home that way.
There ARE gators, so watch out. At night, lots of bugs, too. Look for
Mickosukee Casino. Greg beat me to it...and turn right, like he said. Just
past the casino, if you go straight, is a VERY popular BBQ joint. Less than a
mile after the casino on the right. I haven't been there, but heard it is
great.

We drove it once, it reminded me of Hwy 73 between Winnie and Port Arthur,
TX. Lots and lots of signs warning about gators and cats and bears but they
must have had the day off because we didn't see any we didn't see any. What
we did see is a million bugs. They have rest areas where you can stop and
clean your windshield.

We booked that place one year on hotels.com as we were driving out the
causeway. There is no parking on the island for cars but that place let us
store the scooter we had rented inside their fence over night. Not sure if
your PC will be as welcome but it's worth a shot. It's also directly across
the street from the Hemingway House so plenty of 6toed cats roaming around.
No matter where you stay though the Keys are great. I'm sure something will
be open on Thanksgiving.
